Sound to midi

www.bearaudiotool.com/nl/mp3-to-midi

I was watching a ableton tutorial and noticed it had a feature to turn sound into midi. In the video a wav with chords was converted into a track with what seemed to be the correct midi notes.

I checked if there was something free like this online and found the site linked above. I uploaded a song and it started converting. It took a number of minutes before it was done. I did it on the ipad and was able to download the midi and load it into a ios daw. The midi track seemed to have had all the noted packed into one instrument. It sounded nothing like the original song but I could clearly hear the lead instrument had all the correct notes. I used a pretty complex synth song.

In another video a drum sound file was converted into a midi drum track and this seemed to have been converted correctly with every instrument mapped.

Technology has really gotten better. I expect this wil get better over time.
