Socoder -> Weather Threads -> Too Hot to Handle

We have been having 113 F degree weather, and is a bit rough in the house with no air conditioning, given our health issues. Yesterday at a yard sale, we picked up an almost new window AC that had only been used for six months for $70, installed it tonight in preparation for the triple digit days coming up the next two days. Works perfectly and is not too heavy and is easy enough to take out and put in the garage for the cooler months. Given my left rotator cuff is torn and has been for a month or two, I am glad it is not heavy. Nice and cool right now...

Anything over 20C (<>70F) and I melt. Our recent 30-40C were unbearable. AC makes a world of difference. Glad you're feeling better

We're supposed to be in the high 20s all week, here.
... not looking forward to that.

113's nuts!!!

You need to move to Florida. Will be about 90F today and around 96F later this week. Of course, you have to deal with the 90%+ humidity

It's been about 25 degrees in Bolton, today, but with zero breeze. Thank munky's for those AC fan things I got lately. Those are cool as a cucumber.
.. I should buy a cucumber.
They're nice and cool and watery and .. mmm.. yeah..
Just snacking on cucumber all day.
That'd be great.
Or grapes.
I have some grapes, but .. They're Tesco grapes, and they're tasteless and shit.

Morrisons grapes are always tastier.
Or proper market-fresh grapes.
Oooh, yeah..
Mum used to buy me Bolton Market grapes on her way up to the hospital.

Perhaps I should hospitalise myself, then I'd get 24/7 Air Conditioning, and grapes, too.

That sounds like a great plan.

.. Have I mentioned it's too hot!?!
'cos it is!!!

It is cooling down right now. It was 33 Celsius a hour or two ago. The news mentioned 5 days of above 30 Celsius weather. Day 1 complete!

Decided to beat the heat yesterday in whatever way I could, iced coffee in the morning followed by an early session at the gym then inside with the fan on sewing a cute outfit for one of my girls, only really heading out down the seaside in the evening when it was lovely and cool.

Downside was, l when I returned home at 11pm it was boiling inside!

@TomToad I lived in FL in the 80s, for about 8 years, some of it without AC in my house and never had it in my vehicle. Only tolerated it because I was much younger.

Our lovely weather for next week... Glad to have AC in the bedroom and truly hoping this will be the last of heat. Critters (NOR, Zoric & Daizy) are really not liking the heat.

We were so blessed to get this for $70. Even a used one goes for $229.

I can't imagine how you guys are dealing with the record heat over there.

Tried sleeping on the couch, last night. It's cooler downstairs than it is up..
Couldn't do it. SO uncomfortable.
Went back to bed and tried my best to have a proper sleep.
Woke up this morning with a MASSIVE cramp in my left shoulder.
Agony..

Bloody heatwave.
Grrrr..
*old man shouts at lack of clouds*

As for eatings. Yes, Mum has indeed started eating Wraps, over the past year or so. She wouldn't previously have gone anywhere near them, but I think all these heatwaves have helped change her mind on them.

What a coinkydink, I've been sleeping on the sofa in the living room, this week also, fan blaring on top setting, then for some reason dumping a duvet cover over me. Seems to work but yeah, dry mouth in the morning .

It started to cool down to a manageable temperature around about 8pm or so, and by 10pm I was fast asleep in a super-cool chilled wonderland.
Awesome!!

I woke up just after midnight in a puddle of sweat, as the temperatures skyrocketed to what felt like at least 700,000 degrees or something.
Didn't get back to sleep for hours, and it's still bloody hot, now.
Fuuuu...
