Wednesday Workshop #094 : The Atari 2600 Challenge
Time until Deadline

Week : 04 April 2007
The Reason : I've been reading too much Retro Gamer

The Challenge : Pick a classic Atari 2600 game, then remake it.

Extra Info
Choose your own format of remake.
You can either make it with better graphics.
Make it with the same graphics but better gameplay.
Make it exactly as it was.
or maybe even make a really bad remake!
But.. It has to be an actual 2600 game. Not "My game, but like a 2600 game"

Weekly Rules/How to Enter
You have until Tuesday Night/Wednesday Morning 00:00 BST to submit your levels. ^ See Deadline Link! ^

Wed.Workshop is at SoCoder.co.nr. If you can read this, you're probably already there!

Stick your entry underneath this post, leaving a link to your zip or the source of your game, or whatever. (I really should get round to that Upload thing, shouldn't I!)

If you can't figure it out, or have a really rubbish server, send it to Jayenkai@Gmail.com and I'll stick it straight onto the SoCoder (Official Wed.Workshop) site.

Entries will be collected during the week, and entered into next week's voting. (If there are any entries..)
All entries will be entered into voting which will take place if there's more than one entry..

Please try to keep all entries within small file sizes. 2Mb is the average maximum for files.
Additional Rules are available at the SoCoder (Official Wed.Workshop) site, under the list of previous workshops.

Ok... i will code "Pac-man"... or maybe Space invaders... mumble...

Pac-man or Space: this is the question...
Why 'tis nobler to code Pac-man...
and suffer the slings and arrows of an outrageous *A...
or escape from a sea of troubles...
and code space invaders? To code: to play.

....
Do you like this new version of Hamlet????

okay,

I first offered it to shroom. But since he cannot
or isn't going to enter this week.

Too much eye strain on those g forces from staring
at Jay and others. haha Sorry, shroom.

I will offer it first to flying cucco
and then to others. Its a design gift.
Besides, I'd rather do some game designing and writing
for now too.

The design is simple and short. Nothing about
going overboard. and

DIEHARD MEETS OUTLAW

the game is called

DIE HARD OUTLAW.

synapse synopsis:

a screen appears with a retro style
Atari logo and waiting for you to start the
game by pressing the space bar.
Screen clears and a high resolution blocky rendering
of a few cactus, maybe a blocky rattler snake
and witha stage coach moving from above to down
below. It dissappers below the screen and reapperas
at the top.
An Atari Outlaw cowboy is to the right and he
is moving left and right and/or up and down a
little. And from time to time.
This goes on for a few seconds...ohhhh lets say
for about 5 to 10 seconds.

Suddenly!! Bruce Willis(John McClane) materializes.
Why!?? Latest and futuristic DieHard movie and with
time travel involved. He carries a semiautomatic
pistol as well as a phaser too.
He finds himself in the old Wild West and probably
caught up into a nexus of Atari retro games.
It is rumored as History states: that while he was
time chasing some neuro hackers he caught up with them back into the Atari retro days of games and Bushnell
and Chucky Cheese too. The chromatic crystalizer malfunctioned somehow and he found himself both in the late seventies but also somehow and someway into a kids Atari game of Outlaw.

whoa!!!!!

Now, with information and knowledge he gained
from some of the neuro hackers and from the chromatic crystalizer he has to somehow finish and end the game
and fix and repair the chromatic crystalizer
as it is scattered into parts in the game and
reset the game for it to work properly inorder
to return physically to this retro period or his time period.

The parts of the chromatic crystallizer are
contained within the stage coach, a cactus,
the rattler and the cowboy himself.

At the risk of invoking shroom's wrath, I've picked up a banner with strange writing marked "Centipede" on it, and am now legging it like a mad person...

To prove it, here is a screenshot! WARNING: May contain mushrooms.
