Either use a pointer or don't do this. There's no point in having a byref member in something that doesn't have full-fledged constructors.

What Have You Done? - May 2013

Ups
What did you get done this month.
[*]Graduated.
[*]Redesigned my resumé.
[*]Rebuild the materials in my engine to do multipass rendering.
[*]Started work on the world chunk editor for the game.
[*]Converted my engine from 64-bit to 32-bit.

Yeah, I'm not going to waste time explaining how a programmer's text editor differs from Notepad or a typical IDE. If you somehow haven't figured it out in the last 11 years, you're hopeless.

The difference is that notepad is a piece of crap and my text editor, Sublime Text 2, is the destroyer of worlds:

Yes, a third party distribution. It's like how you don't say any one Linux distribution is Linux itself. It's a third-party distribution of Linux/Lua/etc.

That's not Lua, that's a third-party package. Lua is strictly (Linkage), not someone's third-party installer with a bunch of extra crap. I swear, you seem to leak misinformation at every opportunity.

No, it doesn't. That said, all someone needs to use Lua is a text editor, and anything from ConTEXT to Sublime Text to whatever's simplest (not Notepad - that's a bad idea) for *snip*

So, one of the big hurdles in getting my engine up and running was that I'm a picky jerk about just drawing squares on-screen to show things. This is a terrible habit, but I can't break it, so I've been working on trying to get various bits of the renderer*snip*

Try starting with something like (Linkage), which uses Lua. It's a good, simple, BASIC-esque language that should let you build up to more advanced stuff as needed (Lua can do a lot of stuff, basically), and LOVE lets you do game stuff, so there's visual *snip*
