I can't believe what I just saw !

10th November 2010

For a system like that, I wouldn't be worried about how them being hooked up to the internet, I would be worried about what other programs have snuck their way into the systems, and then able to sneak off with credit card data.

Site feature: Expanding code boxes

7th November 2010

Jay, I know you're a busy guy and I don't mean to dump more work onto you, but I have an idea which could help improve the site a little bit: have an option to enlarge the text boxes, similar to how the image thumbnails work. Personally I find it hard to *snip*

QOTD : How many files?

5th November 2010

Yeah I use a lot of files too (at least for Blitz projects). Using a lot of modules will do this to you. A typical project could grow into 10 or so files, plus however many modules I attach to it. I have added as many as 12 modules to one project - and *snip*

Procrastinating again...

3rd November 2010

Well its not unusual - I've done it plenty of times... and sometimes don't realize the answer until after I post it.

Nice Video

20th October 2010

Nice Video. I was hoping it'd be an intro to the new Diablo III game coming out... but a new episode of WoW could use something like that... not that I'm playing or anything.

I need a new domain name

14th October 2010

waroffice, hate to discourage your efforts but personally I think doghousedean.com is a decent length for a domain name, especially considering how many domain names exist these days. Which browser are you using? Most should allow you to type the first c*snip*

Web Content

14th October 2010

Dna, I'm not really sure what you're working on, but would an Ajax solution help problems? You could download your page / application in portions, leaving all the access of your app up to the server. If you can limit the functionality to require access t*snip*

I've used Allegro - wait that's for plain C. But you might check it out. Never messed with anything else, personally.

QOTD : Addicted?

4th October 2010

I play a lot of Diablo II as well, but I don't think I've become addicted to it. Although, when I first got the expansion I played some 10 hours straight, to beat the new last act on easy, with my existing character. I didn't have anything to do that day*snip*

QOTD : Addicted?

3rd October 2010

I got way too involved in playing Travian at one point recently. Come home from work and play basically until bedtime, raiding players, growing armies and growing my cities. It was all I did at one point, but there was always a need to work at it, or els*snip*

IE9 beta

20th September 2010

I know. But apparently FireFox removed all the warnings about my website, so everything's back to normal.
It'd be a shame for a group like Mozilla to refuse to allow people to view a large group of websites like that. It would be like a violation of fre*snip*

The Default mask Color

20th September 2010

I have to agree with Jay. Not everyone has the latest and greatest PC hardware. Heck, some people are still running systems with Win98. If you exclude systems like that, you are shrinking your possible market.
I honestly don't see why so many companies*snip*

Destroying a hard drive

18th September 2010

This sounds like one of those 'destroy whats indestructible' mindgames. I say the only effective way to loose the data is to bury it. Take the plates out and put it in a well-vegetated spot on your land, let the plant and soil life have its way with its *snip*

IE9 beta

16th September 2010

Yeah I never restart my computer anymore.
I'm a bit upset with Firefox right now. My website uses dyndns.com to provide a reasonable domain name for people to connect on, since its running on my home PC. But apparently Firefox / Google have decided that*snip*

Destroying a hard drive

16th September 2010

I thought that, previously, holding a magnet near the drive would erase everything on it. Is that still true? You should be able to take the drive apart, and break the inner disks... though I've never seen the inside of a harddrive. Heck, drop the disks*snip*

DirectDraw hack for older games

6th September 2010

This guy started working on a hack for DirectDraw, so older games could continue working in new systems. The text describes his whole story about how he got into it all, when wanting to try an older game. I myself have tried to play a few older games - a*snip*

Safely removing printer?

18th August 2010

As far as I know, so long as you're not in the middle of transferring data between your PC and whatever device you're pulling, Windows shouldn't have any trouble when you remove it.

Network Woes :(

7th August 2010

If this is a single file transfer job, I'd say just email the files to yourself. Yahoo email allows up to 10MB emails at a time, last I heard (a few years ago), that could have been increased by now.
Or, transfer the files to your middle PC. Dunno why t*snip*

Test needed.

5th August 2010

Doesn't look too bad. I'm running Opera on Windows 7. One thing on the images page that I would do is provide a little bit of space between each of the thumbnails at the bottom. Right now at first glance, it all looks like another image below the first,*snip*

Hmm, maybe I should try this to get into a job... but yeah, if the managers aren't familiar with the programming tools, you could convince them you know a lot about it, even if you don't.

PHP Frameworks

25th July 2010

I have used PHP a lot, but I haven't used many frameworks. I have had a look at WordPress, but not enough to try to understand any of the inner code. I'm honestly not a big fan of frameworks in general; without modifying the basic code, you're limited to*snip*
