Can we just nuke the badges concept?

There really have not been any new badges lately, and no offense, but I dislike the "evil badges".

Yeah, the badges really didn't take off like we'd planned.

Yeah, I was actually considering that, after the whole "This is not fucking facebook" thing... Stickers, badges, same thing!

The badges were a good idea at first, but yeah, nothing new has made them kind of redundant. But I did like the general idea of community type awards...

But I have six!!1

Nah seriously, no complaints from me either way. My posts shouldn't take up half the screen when I post a one-word reply.

The mud chat overall works fine. The occasional drop connections/conversations, dup post, and being slow at times. But it works fine I think.

Now what I would like to see is a DOT mobile version of the site. With the basics on it. Basically with just the side bars and mudchat. Or make a direct link to the mudchat for mobile phones so I can join the mudchat any where I want with my brand new BlackBerry Curve!!!

I havent attempted to goto the site as of yet as my new phone plan dont kick in till sept 7th so I cant get on the net with it with out being outrageously charged.

Yeah, the site should pretty much work..
I can't really test it on mine, though, what with my plan being so incredibly shite... (Oooh, £4 per Mb! How nice!!)

I know what I want!!

I want there to be a more noticable queue to when there's more than one page to a forum topic. I mean, yeah the page: 1,2,3 works pretty well, but you gotta go looking for it, or else you don't know there's more pages. Just make it bigger, or something. Or have an arrow on the bottom, directing you to the next page.

Considered a while back, but unsure of how the server would cope with all those emails!
I'm not sure why, I just assumed terrible things would happen!!
Having said that, though, the Registration email sending seems to be going ok, so it might be worth giving it a go.

I'll have a think about how to do it, and let you know.

Having done a couple of tests, I can only say that the server's email sending is REALLY stupidly slow!

It takes about 3 or 4 seconds to send an email..

If your post triggered a subscribed-members-email send, and there were 10 members on that list.. That'd be you sitting waiting for around 30 seconds before you could do anything else.

I'd rather the site didn't go that slow!

Sorry, but the email doohickey's out.

@Jay - what are you using to send the mail? I remember reading that PHP's mail function shouldn't be used to send multiple e-mails as it is inefficient for anything other than one-offs. Instead you're supposed to use Pear Mail_Queue.

|edit| Also, I love the new page numbering dohickey! |edit|

Ah, ok, that'd explain that being so mindnumbingly useless, then!

Can't really be bothered doing it, right now, as I've had a couple of days of "Attempt - Fail - Give up"..
Maybe later

For some reason, when viewing profiles now, the right sidebar has become left aligned, as has the center page content. The right bar used to stick to the right, with content in the centre.

Is this an update, or an accident?

This is the all-new-wonderful Firefox 3.
Until I can figure out a way to fix it without breaking every other browser, it's a bug that's there to stay!
It's much more noticable here.

The bug/issue is as follows.

Previously
"Width: Auto" meant "Take up as much room as is available."
Now
"Width: Auto" means "Take up as little room as you can."

Stupid thing..

I'm more or less waiting to see what the firefox folk do. (although, with the big B/D coming up, I might bother to tweak it!)

Hoverpop & Popthis!
or, if mouse is over Hoverpop, popthis!

The example being the new workshop layout thing.

Coding Contests

^ That, right there..

(But with all the linebreaks removed, so it all flows together a bit neater, and the popthis sections appear to use the same space..)

Basically, where there's a [hoverpop]something[/hoverpop], it makes it into a hover-overable section.
The next available [popthis]something[/popthis] will be linked to that section, and only show when you're hovering.
You can lay them out however you like, so long as the hoverpop comes before the popthis.

Just....

I was tempted to make the Spoiler tag be hover-able, too, but figured your mouse might aimlessly wander over a tag, and you'll accidentally ruin what should be spoilered..
..
So, I left in the Safety-Click!
