You mean, a head haircut? Or "affected area" haircut? o_O

Sitting in a hospital waiting room for ages can be a right pain in the arse!

I hope all goes well BTW!

|edit| But then again waiting for the AA can take forever, that's why I didn't bother renewing this year. Some old geezer once said "they're not as good as they used to be!" |edit|

Never been with the AA - with Greenflag now. Used to be with RAC and called them out once to get a sheared wheelnut off (flat tyre). He has a look and goes "oh yeah, probly wants drilling, that", and wanders round the other side of his van. To get a drill, I thought, but no.

Comes back with a fucking huge mallet, and proceeds to beat the shit out of my wheel with it. Fair do's, he got the nut off. But in the process, I found out later, he destroyed the wheel bearing, and bent the stub axle.

£300 worth of damage.

So, fuck the RAC. I wouldn't trust them to fix a wheelbarrow, never mind a car.

Had Greenflag out a couple of times and no problems at all. On one occasion they took my car from Lincoln to Barnsley, and cos it was late, they came back the next day and took the car from my house to the garage in Sheffield. On the other occasion, the radiator was busted. They picked the car up from the house, and took it to a garage 5 miles away.

Never gave it another thought but I got a letter a week or so later saying I'd got 50% off next year's premium cos they were over an hour (by four minutes) getting to us. Even though the car was on the drive and I was in the house watching Bargain Hunt or something.

Customer service! Entirely at the mercy of whoever's currently doing the task at hand.
With 1,000s of employees, you can't ensure everyone does a good job.

That hour-limit seems like a good way to make sure the employee gets their arse into gear, though!!

I also only ever called them out once, some nobcheese at a tyre centre did the wheel studs up that tight it's a wonder they never broke and caused an accident.

It took The AA almost 3 hours to come and slacken-off the wheel studs. If they are the 4th emergency service then it's a good thing they don't do first aid or put out fires, coz I would have been dead already.

I tell a lie, I *have* been with the AA - your "3 hour" thing reminded me I had bike cover with them.

My bike packed up on the way to work once, when I was at Idigicon. One of the valves got stuck open and it was pissing petrol all over the road. Pushed it nearly a mile to work, which almost killed me (was a 2002 NSR125 and they're bastard heavy), and rang the AA. That was around 9:30am, and they finally turned up at 1:15pm to hoy the bike off to the garage. Wasn't *too* bothered, which is why I'd forgot about it, as I was working and stuff.

I'd told the garage I was coming (and that I was pissed off) and they said they'd fix it but they'd bill me. I said nah you fucking won't, I've only had it two weeks, sale of goods act yadda yadda yadda. Either fix it or I'll have me four grand back. He goes "well I dunno what we can do" so I'm like you better get your fucking thinking cap on then, cos I'll be down in 20 minutes.

Got there with the AA van and asked to speak to the bloke I'd been talking to on the phone. Cocky little shitweasel wouldn't come and talk to me. Funnily enough they didn't bill me.

In the hospital now... I explained to the nice lady from the AA I was in for an operation... 15mins the fella was there!

Cable that does into the starter motor was the problem, he unplugged it, then plugged it back in... Bingo!

I'm not embarrassed that it was a simple fix, I know nowt about engines... Just pleased he got me going!

So, just waiting for my name called... I'm bricking it!

Nowt to be scared of (says me, never had an op before!).

I've had a doctor's finger up my arse before - AND I was fully conscious as it happened. I can't imagine your impending situation is going to be much worse than that.

Well, here's the morning after... Little sore, but, feels better already, I can feel within meself the nastiness has gone, and, that's worth all the throb in the world!

Got a sick note for 2 weeks but the hospital really reckons i should be off for six due to the amount removed... So, back to docs in a fortnight for an assessment... I'm not going to go back too early for the sake of money and let it get screwed up again, work will probably be pissed, but, sod them!

Operation went well... Not sure what was worried about now, one of them things, pretty simple prep work, chucked the gear in, told them when I was getting a little bit woozy and bosh... I was in the recovery room! So if there's a next time, I'll be like "Here, bring that gear on... Let's do this shit"

So, onwards and upwards!

I'm glad it all went well for you Mike, I hope the arse gets better soon.

My dad had an op a couple of years ago and said exactly the same - it seemed instant!

It is ideal like... And there was me fretting!

Had meself a sponge bath, waiting for nurse to come out and change the packing... not sure what time but would be nice if there was a set time, as in "between 1pm and 2pm", not just "whenever". Cannot really get settled, have a nap or nowt!

Anyway, just read Viz, one of the magazines my brother bought for me when he picked me up... Moving on to a Raspbery Pi one next, then a golf one, and finally... Kindle Store for the next pieces of auld literature!

Once I can sit for a bit I'll fire up the PC and have a tinker about... See what I can get done in 6 weeks motivated by sheer boredom!

Right, nurses had to come back out, apparently they used the wrong packing material in the hospital... While she was on, I was like "Here, get a photo will you!"

Well... I ended up having a lovely time in A and E lastnight, when the nurses changed the packing (which was the wrong stuff they put in at the hospital), the tore something down in there and I had myself a spurter... It was going like a tap... Ended going in... I was close to going back into theatre because the leak was right at the bottom and the doctor and nurse had a right chew on getting stitches at it... Luckily, they managed... But fuck me, did it hurt, they were like "are you you okay?", I was like "mmmmm mmmmm", while biting my finger!

Awww lads, when I tell ya... It was a nightmare! :/

Poor Dabz

Hopefully there'll be no other problems and you'll have a speedy recovery.

The part that usually gets me at hospitals is when they say "it's OK, we'll numb it first!"... It's a different scenario when they shove a dirty great needle right where it hurts in order to do that numbing part.
