Or, for those who don't have a clue what that means...

Sneezing caused by bright lights.

I am one of the ~30% of the human population that sneezes when i look at a bright light, the brighter the better, sunlight reflected off a large white surface works the best, after that direct sunlight works very well and even fluorescent tube lights. It's usually multiple sneezes also, usually around three with me, i usually use this odd affliction to force a sneeze when one is on its way but not quite there yet. Often i get asked if i have allergies, which results in some quite confusing looks when i try to explain that its the bright lights causing it. Sometimes i just tell them yes i do, it's easier that way.

It is a genetic condition, meaning one or both of my parents also suffer from this (although i have never bothered to ask either of them).

There is a short article about it here.

So does anyone else 'suffer' from this? I know a lot of people wont have a clue what i'm babbling about, but hey, its a little bit weird.

hehe.. How strange!!

I don't have it, but I certainly can understand it. I look at a bright light and my eyes water.. You sneeze. I'm sure those two are interconnected somehow, so it's not too unbelievable to hear of it happening.

..
Still weird though

Ere !... That could be dodgy.

Imagine if you were riding a motor cycle at night, when another vehicle approaches you with the head lights set on high beam. You are going to get a helmet visor, full of snott .

Apparently the brain is confusing nerve signals from the eyes with ones from the nose, so a bright light translates as a tickly nose. It is indeed quite odd.

I thought everyone did that!

It only seems to be sunlight that does it for me (either direct or bouncing off a surface) but it'll often make me sneeze twice in a row.

Blimey!

I do, and it's only sunlight. Also, I sneeze twice, always.

I just tried blasting myself with a camera flash. It did not effect me, so I guess that I'm OK.

So your blind now right Steve? I have heard of this. To an extent your allergic to sun light. On rare occasions I sneeze when I go outside and the bright light hits me the first time. But its usually just a 1 time thing after I get outside and just 1 sneeze. I think its pretty kewl tho. Altho I do have allergies my self, I do know that its not my allergies doing it. As I take medicine for those every day and it still happens. Just a sneeze. That first time I step out. From what I heard its pretty common.

|edit| Ok that was a lie......well not really a lie, Now that I think about it I do sneeze 2-3 times when it hits me. |edit|

Yeah, I always thought everyone did that.

I like sneezing...feels good. Should rename them to nose-orgasms.

Yeah I was sort of blind for a few minutes there Orion .

My Brother-in-law once told me that he knows somebody that tried to hold a sneeze back. It apparently damaged some of the muscles and vertebrae in his back and spine.

So always remember... Let it go, with the flow . Even if it does mean getting out the cleaning cloth, after your monitor changes colour .

This is actually one of the early symptoms of vampirism.
I recommend getting someone to stake you, before you fully turn.
