Neo(n)Plat for DS
Since I've been off my regular AGameAWeek duties all month, I figured it was about time I treated the DS folk to something.
Sure, I gave them Cardagain, but.. That was more an advert than anything!

So, I tried resizing NeonPlat sprites down to size.
Thing is, when you're working with 8x8 pixels sprites, the lovely neon glowy effect kinda gets lost.
I spent about a week trying to come up with a nice way to achieve the glow before going "Oh, well sod this then!!" and scrapping the idea altogether.

..
Then I wondered, why not just use JNKPlat sprites to do it?

So, starting afresh, I rethought the idea.
Instead of floating floors, I figured I'd make use of the lovely gridded backgrounds of the DS, and make a whole new weirdly gridded wall/floor mechanic.

Thinking "Bubble Bobble", I decided I'd need a multitude of block tiles, and an insane amount of levels.

I spread the workload between Socoder and GBATemp.

Socoder peeps made the tiles, and GBATemp peeps made the layouts.

..
I expected LOADS of tiles, and LOADS of layouts, but got about 20 or each, give or take.
Bah, not enough for a super-sized game!

So, off to Blitz I went, making hundreds and thousands of multicoloured super fantastico tiles, and oodles of level layouts.

Job done.

Worry not... Your tiles and layouts are all still in the game, you just have to find 'em!

3 weeks in (slow progress when I've no AGameAWeek deadline!!) and I'm finally starting to get to a really great point..
...
Just in time for my boss to head off to the US for a couple of weeks, and me to do all his pissin' shifts.
FFS.
There goes the rest of my Month off!!
