Cuniform

pieces and remnants...

hello all,

this is going to be a discussion and an area to integrate all kinds of ideas, tips, suggestions, tricks, advice, rants, agreements, disagreements, for a open and working fusion of a new platform independent game development language.

Cuniform..or Cuni for short...will be a new game creation development system designed for children and also for others new too programming and also for others who are 'lazy programmers'.
Cuniform is based in English but can be translated to other languages as well. Your native language is used as well as symbols and hieroglyphs ansd runes from various world cultures such as the ancient Eygptians, Sumerians, Babylonians, and even the rune stones of the Norse or Vikings.

okay...for now whats going thru my mind and head too:

I see a small icon of Horus. The background of the icon is in a dark gray color while Horus is standing and with his wings in is in black. You can obviously change the icon color of Horus and also the background color too. But its in the default mode.
Horus is in a box and to the right and with a set of other icons too. You place your mouse cursor over Horus and he screeches the word 'Screen' a few times(you can adjust the voice as well as make Horus say the word 'screen' once or altogether turn off Horus voice) and also a small tool tip appears with the command Screen. Tool tips can also be turned off and turned back on too.
If you left click Horus....in the main screen the command Screen appears and the default parameters for width, height, and depth too. You can change these in the main screen. But also and quicker thru right-clicking the
Horus icon. A drop scroll box box appears showing the defaults and then left clicking to change the screen parameters by scrolling and clicking lets say 800 by 600, 1024 by 768, etc. Same goes for the color depth as well.
The changes will be made in both the icon and on your source code in the main screen. If you don't know what the defaults are for the screen command you can always right click the Horus icon or even simply place the cursor over the Horus icon.

just a start....ongoing and continual too.

Shades of SG-1!,

to clear the screen to a quick black background,
you can type the cls or some kind of clear command...if you want.
however for fast-action coding...left click the Seth...Eyptian diety of the Underworld. The clear command will be inserted where the cursor is on or the next available blank line in the main coding window.
Also in the Cuni IDE there are a set of fast or quick coding glyphs...that you can use for common commands and functions too.

want to brighten the screen to white...then left click on the Sun god of Ra. A different color for the background you say?...such as green, red or even dark or light blue. No problem for Cuniforn. Walk upon the rainbow icon with your mouse and right click for RGB color values and click them in with your left mouse button. Or hey you can simply enter the command and the RGB parameter value in the main coding window too.
Seth and Ra are just quick and no-change icons for clearing the background screen in a near black and near white blackground screen....whereas, the Rainbow icon is used to change the background color screen within the depth range of what the color depth of what the screen was set to.

Is this something you are going to make then?

It sounds very interesting!

its just pieces and remnants of thoughts and ideas for now.

hoboben,

I can see it in my minds eye with me, others, families and kids, and other hackers and some programmers using it for both educational and programming purposes.
again, its just some thoughts and ideas.

yet, a long time ago when I first joined up over at Xgamestation site at around 2003 and even around in 2001...I had an ideas and designs for 3d smileys and even for animated ones and even some to speak and voice and sound effects.
In the Xgamestation site....I asked some of the coders there for some help, shared my thoughts and ideas about this and were looking for team development members. Guess what!??
It never took off....cause they thought that my thoughts and ideas for 3d and animated and even voiced smileys would never hit it big. So, I forgot about it and gave up.
Then to my shock! and with some jealousy and frustration...when I found out some years that others brought it to frutition. Never, ever will I do this again!
regardless how weird or far-fetched certain ideas are...even for games and software applications...I will continue with them and decide for myself whether they are workable and feasible.

thank you for the encouragement.

I can also see myself and others reading up on the manual of Cuniform.

Its a brown book with reddish brown letters of C-U-N-I-F-O-R-M on the front and with pages shaped like clay tablets too. Enclosed is the cd with Cuniform and some other tools and media resoures too.
It also comes packaged with some multi-colored plastic runestones that spell out CUNIFORM too.

product packaging and advertising too.

some more thoughts, ideas and weirdness for Cuniform:

when you first open Cuniform.....a scroll appears and opens up at both ends. true.

within Cuniform there is of course an Help function and access to all kinds of commands, articles, tutorials, and of course the Cuniform Cubix.....which is 3d cube shaped and displays the various icons and glyphs(either in 2d or 3d)and a short description of the commands and functions that they encompass too.
there is also for the kiddies....and the big kiddies like me .... an interactive help agent in the form of an Angel. The Angel is your guardian and help companion. His name is called Angel Eyes. In full interactive mode he helps to guide you thru some basic tutorials and also to help set up programs and also use and save basic template glyph programs too.
In partial Bless mode: he appears with Angel eyes and a golden white halo on the top left corner of the Cuniform IDE
and is ready to offer advice and knoweldge of the ancient glyphs and icons too.

Agent
This seems like what might be classed as an esoteric programming language.

I like the idea of using icons, but it sounds like one might also need a good grounding in egyptology, archeology, mythology, anthropology and the theology and linguistics of ancient cultures in order to become proficient in it!

just like my mom has a good grounding and is proficient in Latin and ancient world cultures too. Especially in ancient Egypt,Sumerian and Babylonian too. In this case: like mother, like son.
Agent Smith, ever play Age of Mythology series or other games that utilize and borrow ideas, icons, and even characters from ancient world cultures??
Our whole society and various sub-cultures are immersed and use ideas, icons, characters that were shaped and utilized by the ancients. Inherently, Human was as Human is today: "Nothing new under the sun..." from Ecclesiastes.

yet( )...yet, I think even a little kid can use these icons as well as they are learning other symbols that have particular or various meanings. Thats why in CUNIFORM a CUBIX dictionary will be included for help and access....showing both 2d and 3d pictures of some of the basic glyphs and icons.
For example:

with CUNIFORM running....you need help and access the Cubix dictionary. You can either click a basic and standard glyph such as RA...the sun god. You can also enter the name RA.
CUNIFORM searches its hieroglyphical database and brings up RA. A 3D or 2d rendition of RA appears on the screen. The screen/window can be minimized and moved as well.
Underneath the picture, a short description of the command and/or function is explained. As well as a short example of what this command or function does.
And underneath this description is a short explanation of who or what RA is and from what ancient culture or civilization. Some expanded info will be provided for the user if clicked on for additional information for RA at some links and sites and even going to visit your local library or even looking RA up in your hardcopy or online Encyclopedia.

maybe nothing will ever come of my ideas and thoughts of CUNIFORM. Then again, maybe it will...eventually.
Lok at what happended to my ideas and thoughts of 3d and voiced smileys and depressies too. I gave up and others came out with similar ideas and brought it to fruition.
Even if CUNIFORM doesn't materialize in this world....I enjoy writing and sharing my creative weirdness. Hopefully, some of you who are more experienced in coding and art and animation too or others reading these posts will help me to bring CUNIFORM or in some form to realization.
