Overboard with hacks

I think i'm overdoing it.

Lately i think i've been going a little overboard with hacking up my computer setups. My best friends seem to be a dremel, hot iron, and electrical tape because i've been slicing up cases and other hardware non-stop. Case in point: my server that runs themongoose.redirectme.net...

...the other day, i installed fan #10 into it, after cutting a nice hole in the top of the case. I've actually spliced more lanes onto the PSU inside of it to run everything. The fan i installed in the top came off of some industrial-strength heatsink for some component from a forklift control box, and roars like crazy. It required me to cut the wires and adapt a molex to it from one of those useless SATA connectors. On the spare 5v wire, i put a small 40mm fan that i screwed into the servers northbridge so it could have a fan. Then, i used a 40a 12vdc switch to turn off all non-essential fans when the server is running cold, to save power and cut down on the noise. Idle, it goes at 35c, but with all fans on, it cools it down to 22c.

Then, the GPU in the media center decided to go nuts, turns out the fan died in it. I hate how dodgy these companies make their heatsinks, so i bore a hole into it and put one of those 80mm adaptors onto it, and put an 80mm to suck the heat away. Took it from 40c idle down to 32c.

Does anyone else get this hackish with their machines? A lot of people looked on in horror as i drilled, cut, grinded, and spliced these monstrosities together, but they seem to run a lot smoother after a little surgery. I used to think computers were delicate and unforgiving, but they seem to not mind me bodging it.
