Happy Berfday?

About 20 years ago, I lived in Maryland, about 10 minutes from my parents in Baltimore County. For my Dad’s birthday, we ordered a birthday cake from the bakery in the local Mars grocery store. Pretty simple, picked out the cake design, type of cake, type of icing and asked for it to say “Happy Birthday Phil”.

When we went to pick up the cake, it said “Happy Berfday Phil”. Some families may have been upset and wanted a refund, or have it fixed. Not, us! We embraced “Berfday”. Since then, we have always had any cakes say “Berfday” and any cards, we cross out “Birthday” and instead write “Berfday”. When we wish each other “Happy Birthday” when talking, it is always “Happy Berfday”.

So, for my Berfday today, I am sharing a picture of my Berfday cake.

Happy 56th Berfday, Kuron!
