Socoder -> Off Topic -> Coded for Nothing..

I still haven't used my onscreen DPad and Buttons yet.

I coded them into my Monkey framework, spent loads of time getting them "just right", added nice options for moving them around and scaling them, and even spent an hour or so drawing lovely buttons in Paintshop Pro.
So far I've written 28 games with Monkey, and only one of them uses the DPad code, and even that was a torn-apart redoing of the whole sodding thing!!

Bloody useless, but at the time it seemed like something I'd need.
Ho hum.

Question : What have you spent ages working on, only to never actually use it!?

Loads of things. I do a lot of coding purely for R&D purposes that nobody will ever see. I also spend lots of time optimizing routines to get the best out of them on the handhelds, especially Pandora.

I also do lots of work on "games" that will never see the light of day - again, this is pure R&D just to see if I can emulate/simulate something else. But these aren't classed as WIPs as I know what I want to achieve and once it's at that point it stops, never to be continued. They aren't meant to be full games or demos or anything else. They are just for me to test my skills and ideas. A lot of them include routines that I will re-use elsewhere at another time, but most are just to broaden my understanding of how something works or if I can imitate it.
