I dunno!, I give my game away for free and then get my post edited by a mod over at Retro Gamer. I basically got accused of spamming, how the peking duck can I be spamming when I gave it away for free?.

Pain in the arse when you daren't even discuss your own projects.
Find friendly sites, and stick with those.

In their AUP, the only thing they could bring up is the following:

RetroGamer i) Clearly infringes on another person's trade or service mark, patent, or other property right.

And they can't have me on that because the original Mutant Monty is on the Amstrad abandonware site, being a retro mag I would have thought they would effing-well know that.

Just because something is on an abandonware site doesn't mean that the original owner no longer has any rights. The IP and copyright still belong to them and have not lapsed or been made public domain. It's still technically illegal to download it and rip it's graphics etc.

But yeah, their moderation does perhaps seem a little heavy-handed.

Maybe track down the original author/current IP owner and ask permission to put it online...

I can understand the frustration behind the setup, but to be fair, they are probably only looking after themselves, and in the age were you cannot even fart without someone waving a C&D at you... Its pretty much the norm to see these type of rules on big game dev forums!

They never actually gave any reason to why they edited it but I assume it probably was to do with IP rights. I tried tracking down John Prince many times Dabz but have always failed to find a contact for that particular bod.
