I keep looking at these things; Pi, Arduino and all that... but no clue what I'd want to actually do with any of it.

Get one... Gooooo onnnnnn! lol

You'll have to keep an eye on when it's available... I think I hit on lucky!

I'm not expecting it to be a power house, but for something that big which will run a vast amount of emulators without blinking an eye... Bargain!

Installing it now and noticed straight away the picture is sharper then the one that comes out my behemoth graphics card that's in the floor box!

God... They've even managed to fit a blinky LED on it! \o/

And here's it grafting...

*WARNING... TECH HORNINESS APPROACHING*
*WARNING... TECH HORNINESS APPROACHING*

Right, couple of things, I thought I'd just boot it up as is before I put retro pi on it, and, it nice to see that, indeed, it does run a little faster then the original Pi, though, it most cases, dont rely on it as a full desktop replacement, pay the extra and get the Pi3 for that.

I'm surmising people who do buy this wont use it for desktop purposes, unless they are desperate, it'll either be a retro thing like I want it for (RetroPi dashboard), media centre thing, which, it can chuck HD about perfectly (There is an option in Noobs to install a media centre as default), or obviously, for pet projects, most of the time I can see the desktop hardly used at all and people just working in the terminal via Samba, plugged into a TV once for setup and that'll be it.

With the size of it (Did I say I was amazed with the size of it?), the possibilities are endless, jesus, you could put it in anything for modding, and since they've cut a lot out of the main boards, I imagine when running this with batteries, the life of them will be pretty damn good!

All in all!

10/10 - It is what it is and does what it does, but god damnit, what they've made and still made sure it does it well is excellent!

I can only imagine what Spinal could do with such a thing.
Looks small enough that it could comfortably fit inside a large controller. (eg Dreamcast/XBox Duke) ready for extreme Emu based functionality.

Probly get it in a Jaguar controller too.

Mind you, you could probably get an ATX board in there.

You could gut one of those Atari Flashbacks, and power it up like it's supposed to be!

Interesting... or even better, an actual 2600 (a stone-dead one, obvs. Butchering a working one is an act of treason).

Well... That went... Sorta well... RetroPie installed:-

\o/

Had a bit clart really, thought there was no signal going through the HDMI cable to the tele, obviously worked when I booted it up the first time.

Had a play about with configs and that inside the RetroPies root directory... Nowt... Reformatted and reinstalled RetroPie on the SD card... Still wasnt working, wiggled the cables... Nowt... Started to get a little cagey thinking I'd borked another Pi...

Then... All of a sudden, life in it and it booted up!?!

Give it a good auld shake, didnt flinch, so, seems the board is okay... Dunno... Very odd!

Anyway, sod works, that's all I need... Added a couple of ROMS to start, pretty easy to do actually... All you do is, obviously when you connect your pi to the network... Is type "\\RETROPIE" in the URL bar of file explorer in windows, hit return and voila, your connected to the pi and you can drag and drop roms till your hearts content, note though, some emulators dont show in the main menu until you drop ROMS in their respective emulator rom folder.

Peasy!

Oh, and my XBox360 controller works a dream... It's a wired one like, but, picked up straight away and had no problems configuring it!
