Socoder -> Off Topic -> Platdude Pixelart Site

A few days ago, I wondered if I could make the Platdude Pixelart site a little bit less ... crappy.

Completely Overhauled!!

The entire page is now javascript/ajax/xml based.
The icons are loaded as two oversized spritesheets (about 250kb each) and a giant xml file (currently 56kb) stores all the data.
They're all downloaded to your browser, and then the only online requests are for the larger images, and the scrawl images.
No further .php requests are made, once the thing's loaded.

Even the tag-search, and gallery is done inside your browser!
Wowsers!

.. I now have to go through all 463 images to add a description and some tags.. Nnnngh.. (I've, so far, done everything from 463 down to 400)

Also, I could do with adding swipe gestures, so you can scroll through the pics on your iPhing. Keyboard Left+Right will do it, but I've yet to look into swipeyness.

Do you live on a special planet that has, like, a 60 hour day?

Dunno where you find the time.

Must be something in the Little Lever water supply... Like, Redbull or something!

It's taken a fair number of days to get everything organised. In fact, I started the XML file about a week ago. I was literally fiddling about with it when the discussion of Zelda Picross came up, the other day. Which is why I instantly thought "hmm... Could do that with these!!!"

Techy wise, it took ages to get the CSS to behave, and.. Yep.. I cheated as usual, and used a table again!

But otherwise, I think I pulled it off.
It's a little twitchy on iPad, though, so I'll have to look into that lovely scroll I have going on.

Stripped out the scrolling, as it really wasn't looking too good on mobiles and tablets. .. Bloody auto-scaling breaking the thing..

Aw well..

Further tweaking, today.

The main Pixelart site now integrates the Calendar's functionality. Simply click the Calendar image to open up the new panel.

*Gets*
