Cookie Information

Obligatory Cookie Warning

SoCoder uses minimal cookies, but some people think it's important to disclose this, so I figured I should explain them properly...
The cookies used are as follows.

A single cookie is used to remember whether you've docked the sidebars. This cookie also remembers whether you want the sidebars to reload or not.
An additional cookie is used to decide how wide you'd like the site to output to your browser. Thin/Wide/Full.
A third cookie stores which of the various themes you've decided to use.

Log-In Cookie

Once you're logged in, your username and a hashed version of your password are stored in a fourth and fifth cookie.
Please be aware that this isn't the world's most secure method of logging in, but is used because it's the most convenient method for a bog-standard forum such as this..
It also tends to STAY logged in, unlike those 100s of websites you visit daily, which never blinkin' well remember your password, no matter how many times you click the Remember my Password button.
Grrrr..

As such, I suggest you try to make your password, here, as unique as possible.
The last thing you want is someone stealing an overused password, then using it to log in to your emails and other things.

SoCoder is safe, and mostly stable.
But I wouldn't ever dare to claim that it's secure!!

Don't worry, I use ROT-13 twice on my passwords
