FarOut

A generic tool for loading (and extracting) data from The Sims (1)

FarOut.rar
FarOut - Homepage (go here to get the source)
Screenshots
A generic tool for loading (and extracting) data from The Sims (1). Currently only supports the *.far format.

Instructions for use

When opening a *.far archive in the tool, all the files inside the archive will show up in the ListBox in the tool's main window. To extract the archive, simply click on the 'Extract Archive' button, and wait. All the extracted files will show up in a folder called 'Extracted Files' inside the folder containing the originally loaded *.far archive. Also, please note that the tool does not yet contain support for multiple folder hierarchies (I.E an archive containing files with names such as 'UIGraphics\Test.bmp' will compile, whereas an archive containing files with names such as 'UIGraphics\DumbExtraFolder2\Test.bmp' will most likely make the program crash. The good news is that I have yet to discover archives with the latter filename(s) in them.

NOTE: The sourcecode is released on the sole condition that anyone making any progress on either rendering *.skn meshes (including getting D3D to render properly inside the bloody picturebox) either uploads their changes directly to this showcase as a reply, sends their results to me, or makes a thread on these boards containing their changes. Thanks!

Bump!

Just uploaded a new version of this tool to my new online repository, based on some old code I had lying around. Took me about an hour to get something up and running.
If you are interested in how the extraction works, please visit the new homepage I've set up for it!

Edit: Also, please, if you download this, let me know what version of .NET it requires, because I have no sogging clue!
Though I'm guessing (hoping) it runs on a machine with .NET 2.0
