IIRC, wasn't there a downloadable compiler that you could use instead of using the site? Or am I thinking of something else?

This seems to be the way to do it. Whether it still works, though...?

After installing a backup of the pebble app on my new phone, it seems that the service is completely dead. I new get an error about not having internet connection and the app doesn't even who options for downloading faces

|edit| suddenly works.

Started wearing my pebble time steel again as there still is no modern alternative that has the same sense of style.

Woohoo!
I've still got mine, in the drawer of abandoned watches.
Maybe I should pull mine out, too, but the drawer of abandoned watches only contains the watches, not the chargers. I realised this a few weeks ago, and wondered where the cable might be, before realising.. .. oh, god, it's in the dreaded cable drawer!!!

I find it odd that they broke kickstarter records twice, earning millions within a couple of hours, yet none of their cometitors realised that most people don't use most of the features in their watches and are more than happy with just notifications + telling the time.
I don't want a watch which a whopping 1 day battery life but it has GPS and can make calls and has an untra bright screen.

Watches are uncomfortable for me to wear, due to so many scars from burns on the top of my wrist. But, the Pebble Steel Time was one of the only decent looking ones, IMHO. Not to mention, so many that do use metal are using metal finishes that I would be allergic to. Pixel watch literally has no protection for the face to keep it from being scuffed. Apple watch you need to take out a second mortgage to afford and the color schemes and bands look like the toy watches for kids at the Dollar Tree.

My current watch is a Withings Move ECG, which does the fancy ECG. It's a normal watch, but with basic pedometer and the ECG thing built in, which sync's via bluetooth. I've had it a couple of years now, and the 6 month watch battery definitely does last the whole promised 6 months, which is something I've been frustrated at with other watches.
"It'll last up to 7 days", and you put it on and it drains itself after 12 hours because you didn't disable 95% of the features to eek out the 7 day battery..

No, the Withings one, without downgrading its promised features, still manages to last the 6 months.
Shame it doesn't do notifications, etc, but TBH I don't think I ever used those anyway.

Oh, and it can track your sleep, by which I mean it CAN track your sleep, because you don't have to take it off to charge it every sodding night.
.. Though it does get taken off during these summer months, because my heat-rash comes up something awful, without having a watch strap involved.

Their latest one has notifications, though they're quite tiny ones, and promises a 30 day battery life.
Withings ScanWatch

And.. yeah, kinda pricey, too.

Only watch I own and wear when I need one. Deceased wifey bought it for me.

Withings ScanWatch

Price is not too bad. The blue and rose gold looks really nice.
