Socoder -> Off Topic -> SourceForge, FFS!

Having reinstalled again, I'm trying to download DevKitPro again so that I can continue my DS Development.
SourceForge is giving me the following list of mirrors.

University of Kent
or nothing.

And University of Kent takes about 10 minutes to start a download, if it even bothers to do so.

The DevKitPro updater will not download the files either, so I'm sitting here, waiting, and it's going to take about an hour to download it all.

Suffice to say, I'm incredibly ticked off by this entire situation.

As if it wasn't bad enough trying to figure out Sourceforge downloads as it is..

I have never had a problem downloading stuff from Kent... is it just that file?

Also... why are you reinstalling? You uninstalled it?

Yeah, Windows decided that my uncle's XP Pro Corporate License had been overused, so I went back to XP Home again.

Apparently they did a whole system restart at his works, so they reinstalled windows onto a whole lot of PCs..

Thankfully I'd only been using it since the HD crash a few weeks ago, so I didn't really lose too many settings

|update| I finally got DevKitPro Installer to download the files from a different server, using the following method. Run program, edit "Mirror List" manually, read-only the mirror list, re-run program. |update|

Don't put down my university Jayenkai, it's a very nice place. It has the second highest percentage of foreign students out of all UK universities, second only to The London School of Economics.

The Lecturers for my programming course also wrote both the book and the Java environment we use, 'Objects First with Java' and 'BlueJ', who are both great lecturers. Their film section is also top notch, and Kent Universities library has over a million books. They also hosted the UK premiere of Gypo the other day at Kent's own on campus cinema, Cinema 3, which I went to. An actual film premiere, with people and everything!

You may also want to try downloading at night in the future because the network does get a bit slow at times during the day. They also blocked all udp ports meaning we can't play online!

LOL!

Actually, I think your server's screwed because of the way Sourceforge is acting. It seems to be killing all the main mirrors, and not shuffling people off to the others around the world.

I just download something off sourceforge using the Kent mirror. I presume it's because I'm at Kent (literally on the network) and the file was only a few megabytes, but it was practically instant! I didn't even see the download folder, it just flashed the screen.

Ah, yes.. Much better. The downloads since last week have sped up dramatically. Seems the whole bunch of mirrors are working correctly again, so the excess load has been reduced.
