Don't know if it has anything to do with the big blow-out between GfK and Amon

Ouch. I was never a member there, but that's horrible. It might lead to a couple of members moving over here -- and they are most welcome -- but it's never fun to see a site pass away.

I've never been a member there so I wouldn't really know, but it seems, by the way the post is written, that it was a decision made mostly out of anger and not much thought. That's how it reads to me...

Qube has posted quite rarely over the last few months, and the site as a whole is almost entirely dead. Qube is also currently working professionally on a large web projects.

I am thinking these two factors also contributed to it's closure. He doesn't need a small site forum with very few visitors.

Hi! The problems over there were bad. There were a few members who thought themselves the elite of the forum and that everyone else was just there to pamper.

I was accused of by a certain person of being soley responsible for the closure of the site which imho is total rubbish. I think I've just been made the scapegoat.

There is one particularly nasty personality over there whom I despise. He is quick with personal attacks then throws a tantrum when he gets slapped back.

But anyway, I'm hoping I will be allowed to make base here. There'll be no rubbish like there wwas over there and because I know jayenkai from old I trust him to manage a forum better then the syntaxbomb guys.

That forum was never popular anyway. It was just a dossers gaff for a few people like I said who didn't want anybody else there and bullied people that spoke their mind. One person in particular was becoming incresingly hypocritical and always miserable and I just got fed up with, hence my post there and my eventual removal from there happy place.

Anyway, gonna post my dax robot game now. It's a simple platty game.

laters...

Good to see you again, Amon, it's been a long while!

To be fair, this site wasn't exactly thriving until a few days ago.. I added those little powerbars (see the powerbars thread) and they seem to have done the trick.

Stay if you wish, I've no issues there, but like I was saying in the Mudchat last night, I think things work much better if there's 2 large sites..
When CW um.. Vanished (!) the whole community just sort of wandered off.
Whereas, with there now being both a SyntaxBomb and a Socoder, if one fails (see above) the other can at least allow for a transition.
So, as much as folk are welcome here, I'd at least prefer it if there was something else out there. So that we know, just incase, that there's always a home to go to.

With that in mind, keep your new forum open, and see if it takes off

ta muchly!

(although, again, not that I don't want you here.. just as a backup!)

Well, my forum wouldn't suite people I think, j!

My rules are lax, personal attacks are allowed and so are flamewars. I don't really know if people will be able to cope with it. I want people to speak there mind without worrying about being banned.

I may decide to reopen it.

What would be noce though is this forum software you have going on here. I wouldn't mind purchasing. The nostalgic look of it is what's good.

Thanks for letting me stay by the way.

Oh yeah, please check out my Dax Robot game.

As for a second forum, well, I think the guys will find somewhere else over at syntaxbomb. They'll setup another little happy place for themselves where they rule. :/

Well let's all hope that whatever else happens, people don't bring their dirty laundry here from anywhere else.

That would be unfortunate, and surely unwelcome.

As some of you know I've been slowly building a website over the last few weeks, although it's still not complete. But I put up a forum in case any SyntaxBomb (or SoCoder/whatever) members would want to join.

Linky!

Since everyone are spreading their forums around, let it be known that me and my brother have been running a forum here for a long time. It has lots of visitors and is a nice place to be.

I've already registered at JL235's forum...

Yeah, but your link has nothing to do with SyntaxBomb. DD's opened up his forum so folk could use it in the interim.
Whereas yours is just a World of Warcraft forum.

If people'd be interested, I'd be more than willing to put up some language sections in the 'Development' forum. As a matter of fact, there is already a Lua scripting forum up and running. Though it's more geared towards WoW scripting atm.

I've cleaned up max-coder.com. I didn't think it was worth allowing stupid flamewars etc.

Like jayenkai said it's best to have a proper forum people can spread to. That way if anything happens here you guys can at least post on mine.

Feel free guys to register. I would love to see you guys over there. It's not as techy as this place, mines all fora based, but I think it'll be a good little hangout.
