Forget about the Oslo blast. A matter/anti-matter explosion is the principle behind atomic and hydrogen bombs. Think megaton yields.

Glad to hear you and where ever your at didn't go 'POOF!'

Afr0 Obviously you also need a magnetized chamber in order to store the antimatter, because antimatter is such that it will explode in contact with any matter.
The two simply cannot come in contact without eradicating one another!

The chamber would also need to be a vacuum, air is also made up of matter.

I'm very aware of this.
I'll admit to never fully understanding the scientific principle behind a tokamak, so I just designed my tokamak as a giant electromagnet, where the antimatter would have been floating in a magnetic field inside a torus. The whole thing could have been powered by superheated steam, which would have required either an insane amount of logs, or a nuclear reaction (kind of like Russian subs, which were (are?) also powered by superheated steam.)
I also designed a nifty valve system to make the magnetized torus vacuum-proof!

Edit: I'm 98% sure that my design would have been able to contain antimatter for n periods of time, and it wouldn't have been *that* expensive to produce, either. The big issue is that once you've produced antimatter, the costs of powering the thing rises by n. And given that I don't have a uranium mine in my back garden, powering it would have been costly!!

I'm a member of one of those alternative energy forums, you would find it very interesting.

|edit| You need to keep an open mind though, while some of the stuff on there can be useful, a lot of it is bollocks. |edit|

A sooped up Antimatter based remote control plane would be AWESOME!!

That idea would be pointless. Unless you developed a radar system using laserbeaming, the plane would be moving waaayyy too fast for anyone to track its position. At all. And even using a laserbeaming radar, the resulting position on a radarscreen would be slow...

Edit: Antimatter would be very useful for powering rockets with sattelites, though. You'd be able to reach the Alpha Centauri system in about 6 years!

Steve: I'm not that much into alternative energy for the sake of it... I like thinking of ways to replace traditional rocket fuel - to make stuff go faster. But I'll take a look

Antimatter powered plane would be a bit crazy, some of my planes are already like missiles. LOL
