Says it's 14GB in the specs... pretty sure that's wrong! o_O

Either way, wouldn't put all my eggs in one 14TB basket. When that bugger fails you're going to lose big, unless you've got another 14TB drive with a backup on, obvs.

I'm still waiting for that Holodisc that was promised, way back in 2009 - https://www.popsci.com/gear-amp-gadgets/article/2009-04/introducing-holo-disc and this - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holographic_Versatile_Disc

The wonders of tomorrow's world which won't be arriving tomorrow. Or the next day. Possibly next Tuesday, or three weeks on Friday (next) or...

But yeah, until they make HDs out of never-unbreakium, I won't be investing in one larger than 4TB. I've lost far too much stuffage over the years.

Here, if Sky make a 14TB box, I wonder if I can use three mini Q boxes at the same time... I might email them and ask!

My NAS is a 4TB, IIRC. But to be honest, I barely use any of it.
I’ve got my Red Dwarf and Stargate DVD rips as well as my music, and then the Web and GameDev backups, and even still, it's barely using half the available space. (1.92,says Windows)

With all the streaming available to us, it seems silly to want THAT much stored at home.
Sure, post apocalypse I might regret that decision, but I doubt I’d have the power to run the NAS, so that’s not really an issue..

you need to think 0f the bigger picture.

in a datacentre where space is a premium a rack of 14TB disks can save you some cash in space and power requirements, you wouldn't have just one big disk.

Sod 14TB, how about 40+TB HDs? - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-41611802

You just know that if you put 40TB onto an SD card you'd lose it down the side of the sofa or somewhere, never to be seen again!

What you want to do is get one of those solar charge panels, hook it up to an RPi/Arduino, then stuff it full of high capacity SD cards in a RAID setup.
Free Wireless NAS!
(Although being solar powered, it probably won't work down the side of the sofa.. Unless the sun shines out of your arse )
