As soon as you turn it off..

You turn computers off? O_o

Touchpad Gets

1st September 2011

They're only doing a last run because their suppliers ran off a ton of components for the thing and now they've got stuff sitting around that they can't do anything with.

Call The FBI!!!

30th August 2011

That's not what schizophrenia is, nor do I have schizophrenia. What you perceive as annoying is what others perceive as being completely normal. Believe it or not, people behave differently depending on the context - if you think I'm being annoying, it's*snip*

Touchpad Gets

29th August 2011

Nice enough. Updating it requires you go through some odd recovery methods because HP isn't serving the latest version OTA from what I can see. The UI is laggy at times, probably because it's all HTML/JS/CSS behind the scenes. The OS itself is pretty mo*snip*

All you non-touch-typists would hate my keyboard:

How strange that six people here can’t touch type.

HP's gone again

23rd August 2011
you think this is in response to the HP TouchPad?
Why would Apple care about the Touchpad when it couldn't put a dent in their sales? For that matter, why would their response to the Touchpad be a phone?

Cower

HP's gone again

22nd August 2011

The important thing is to make sure nobody buys it off the ebay assholes so they'll have wasted hundred of dollars.

Full disk encryption is fun stuff.

A Touchpad Cheaper

21st August 2011

You have to actually ask the people at Walmart to check their systems for the updated price.

HP TouchPad

6th August 2011

Nice machine, nice OS, waste of time ([edit]and money[/edit]) to actually own one or develop for it due to its microscopic market share that will eventually kill it.

Working Between Compilers

2nd August 2011

Code::Blocks isn't a compiler. Also, mixing C++ and VB is going to be downright painful, so just don't do it.

I've been playing with C++ vectors.

31st July 2011

One shouldn't use something that is soon to be deprecated. Whether C++0x is finished is irrelevant (though most compilers have already begun adding support for it), the point is more that knowing something is soon to be deprecated and still using it is a *snip*
If you can, use smartpointers over both.
I think you have this backwards. If you can avoid using pointers, you do so, and you pass by-reference when you need to. If you absolutely need pointers (sometimes it's just necessary, i.e., in pa*snip*

FYI, references are safer than pointers. If you can use a reference over a pointer, use a reference.

Write Once Again

25th July 2011

I was going to write some detailed rambling about why I think write-once-run-everywhere tools are stupid, but I decided I'm just going to call them stupid and spare my fingers the trouble. I've gone over it enough that I don't feel like explaining it anym*snip*

Strange OpenGL Segfault

Best guess is the context was killed before you attempted to delete a texture, but it's really nearly impossible to debug OpenGL stuff. Might want to try using gDebugger, though.

I don't think I saw a post for this yet, so if you want a Google+ invite, let me know somehow. I leave it up to you to decide how, but creativity is a plus. The only thing I want to know is that you'll use it, 'cause otherwise it's a waste of my time to *snip*

Yoyo Game Maker

I would be incredibly wary of anything that lets you write once and run anywhere. That usually means "we made some huge compromises on functionality." Just look at Monkey, you can't do even half the stuff I'm doing with it.
