PHP on its own can be a nightmare. Mix in html and css, and you’re heading into a festival of insanity... And then.. JavaScript!!!

MySQL's not "too" bad, as long as you understand all the 'trips' "pitfalls" AND & Complications. 1=1

PHP is a pile of shit and I refuse to touch it. In my professional job, if a customer asked for something to be made using it I would simply walk away.

Nope, no, nah, no fanks missus. CRAP.

btw - I have the same feeling for Python, but that argument gets very painful with some people

The thing is with me, I do get on with it, but its a defo love hate thing... Like, you can do some real cool web service based stuff with it, but once you run into a bug, it can be a right bollock when your looking at code thats a splattering of bloody everything else too!

I like C#, and had the first version of Visual Studio with it in (2002?), anyway, the boon there was it did ASP.NET, which I enjoyed playing with locally, but blimey, Windows Server was chuffing expensive, bloated to smithereens and basically even though I'm self programmed to work the MS way, after all the ooohhh's and ahhhh's, I did settle down to the Linux way for servers, and quite enjoy working with them, they are just better, alas though, PHP is just one of them things that you have to put up with, maybe not so much now, but back in the day... I thought it was awful, but a bloody amazing bit of kit, even though when I look for a bug, cannot see it for hours and then I spot it, could be a missing $ or a ', its usually something like that... And... And it makes me swear a lot... More then golf actually!

Probably an unpopular opinion but I'm a okay with PHP.

I do work with it on a daily basis and have done for well over a decade however.

Jumpiong between languages is still never a fun thing to do though, different syntaxes, etc.

Well, that particular bit of thingy I've done is sorted... Got messages and what not bouncing everywhere!

Its a golf score app/tracker I'm writing for Android, been fun so far, if swearing and going crossed eyed is fun, lol, and I knowwwwwwwwwwwww there are others out there, and I'm reinventing wheels probably and I could just download one from the Play store, but where is the fun in that!

So yeah, me little app is chatting to a server/mySQL... Everything seems to be grafting as intended... More work to do, especially app aesthetics, thing looks as bland as out because of the native gui!

Thats for another day though!

PS I'll probably get bored before its finished, so dont hold out for a showcase mind!

Creating personal game tools is great.
Just enough that you know how to work it, but never enough that other folk might use it
I made a Scrabble Scorer a few months ago, and me and mum have had oodles of functoinal coring from it.. but I doubt anyone else, anywhere, has!!

Here's a sly link to a lil bit I [almost] completed today for work. Not technically live yet but can't hurt. Needs some fine tuning on the thumbnails for social media whatsits.

I mean it's kinda a personal game tool.

Thanks UI stuff is getting quite tough to manage for some things now so I'm glad that this one has turned out pretty well.
