Finally remembered that I have to post a game or summat!!

So here it is. Due to work, family, illness, laziness etc. I've only included 9 puzzles

The aim of the game is to create a Christmas themed picture, using only your mouse.

Think of it as like a game of MineSweeper - each number correspnds to the number of solid blocks in the cells surrounding and including it (eg a 9 indicates a solid square of blocks around the number 9. A zero indicates that there are no blocks at all around the number.

Clicking on a number will either do nothing (meaning that there are more blocks/spaces needing to be filled in), or fill in the blocks and empty spaces at the filled blocks around the nunber are equal to that number.
The game has no real niceties (eg music etc.) as it's just a quick and playable WIP. The 9 puzzles can be played in any order - just select the puzzle you want on the title screen.

LOL. That's what happens when you give a basic premise after working a nightshift.

Consider the only cells you are looking at are the 9 in the red cursor box (which move with the mouse cursor. Use logic to determine which cells require filling in or to be marked with an X.

If the centre cell of the cursor box has a number, it means there are that number of solid (black) cells within the red square cursor area (9 cells = 3x3). You only ever need to concentrate on those 9 cells at a time - ignore the rest of the board. You can't accidentally mark cells at all.

eg. If the number "4" is at the centre of your red cursor then there will be four solid cells in that area and 5 empty (or X marked) cells. If you can already see four solid cells in that area, then clicking on the number will mark any empty spaces with an X. Likewise, if there are five Xs already in the area then the remaining empty spaces will be filled with black squares. Once every cell on the board is filled with either an X or black square, the puzzle is complete and should form a picture.



Using the image above as an example, look at the area where the red arrows are pointing. The red boxes represent the cells around the number "1"s. Both of these target scores have been met, as they each have a single black cell within their respective cursor area. Therefore all other cells within that red cursor area must be empty and marked with an "X".

Now look at the green highlighted area around the number five. There are three black cells, plus now 4 "X" marked cells (including the two blue Xs as a result of fulfilling the "1" targets, leaving 2 empty (white unmarked - but in the pic above, purple) cells.

Using logic we can deduce that those two empty cells must be black to make the target score of "5": 9 total cells in cursor area = (3 black cells + 2 unknown cells + 4 "X" cells) We have 4 "X" cells, therefore the total of unknown cells PLUS black cells must be 5: we have three black cells already, so the two unmarked cells remaining must be black.

Basically you need to count the number of empty/marked/filled cells within the red cursor area. If the black squares equal the target amount in centre of the red cursor, then the remaining cells will be marked and vice versa. You have to find the areas where the totals fit the numbers.

Aaah, I see. I was trying to manually mark the cells!! Instead it will "autofill when obvious".
That makes more sense!!

Indeed - it ensures all nine cells are filled (or not) only if the solution is apparent.
