I've never been a Star Wars fan, Trek and Gate are more my cup of tea.. but today was "Star Wars Available to Buy" day, and .. I guess I must've been really bored because I figured what the hey..
And you know what..? I actually enjoyed it.
Kinda by-the-books and mostly predictable, but still an enjoyable romp.
And much more "romp" than the other films. It felt like an adventure, more than a trudge!!
Yeah, that was alright!

Bought mine from iTunes, 'cos it comes with some extras, but annoyingly no commentary that I can see. Grrr.. I love a good commentary...

Seen the original 3, boring.

Seen first 45 mins of Phantom Menace, sack o shite - walked out of cinema in disgust. All that American whoopin' and hollerin' about it was very misplaced.

Might have a look at TFA if it's ever on telly but I will not be paying money to see it.

Yeah, that's how I've felt about SW, too.
As I've said many (many!!) times before, I enjoy the "World" of Star Wars, just not the films!!

Give me an R2D2 figurine. Awesome!
Give me a Lego Star Wars kit. Super!
I even own a Lego Star Wars : Darth Vader Lamp!! It's like a giant minifig with a light up lightsaber.

But show me a film, Bleurgh.. I just haven't ever gotten into them, at all.

But this one's decent.. It's like JJ's worked out all his complete and utter chaos (and those bloody lensflares) doing the Trek movies, and now this movie is distilled JJ goodness!

I'm neither either... Watched the first three, and yeah, can agree on Starwars, bit poo... I sorta got the feeling it was straight from the bible if I'm honest, same with the Matrix, that has a biblical slant to it as well.

Trekkie wise, nope, I mean, most of them look lovely, but, nah, it's always the same cliches in them.

Now Ghostbusters... That's entertainment, it's one of them films that the special effects look real dated, but as a film(s), it's just brill and I can watch it again and again and again!!!

I SOOOOO LOVE the original SW trilogy (Eps IV-VI) and TFA, but the three prequels were awful. I do like the characters, the vehicles from the prequels etc. but the story, dialogue and acting were terrible. The music was great though - which is something I can't really say for TFA, which other than a few build-up moments, was pretty lacklustre and lost in the background of the movie.

Looking forward to Rogue One too

I really like GhostBusters too it really is one film that you can watch again and again and still really enjoy. Ghosbusters 2 was fun too. I'm not really liking the look of the new GhostBusters reboot though

I see the New Ghostbusters as something much like Evolution.
Evolution was an ok movie. It did what it needed to, and was mostly enjoyable, but wasn't a "WOW!" movie.

If New Ghostbusters is at least that good, then that'll be ok, as far as I'm concerned. Something stupid and silly to watch when I'm bored.

While Evolution was similar to Ghostbusters, and I enjoyed it, I never saw it as a Ghostbusters replacement. I guess the new Ghostbusters won't be either!

It could actually be very good, but I'm not getting my hopes up. I'm not even against the female crew or Melissa McCarthy, as I've really enjoyed several of her films. Just that what I've seen so far in trailers etc. doesn't look good, interesting or even funny. But we shall see

Evolution was a nice idea but the execution was terrible. And the way it degenerated into a Head & Shoulders at at the end..... just, no.

As for the new Ghostbusters, I'm expecting little more than a tipping-of-the-hat to the original, and a fuckton of knob innuendos.

While there are certainly (and I'm fairly sure intentionally) parallels between ANH and TFA, Avatar is closer to being the same movie as Disney's Pocahontas than ANH and TNA are to being the same.

I got a Sphero BB-8 for Christmas and found out recently that he can sit and "watch" the film with you. He sits in his cradle and does various things depending on the scene.

Was a proper giggle watching the film again with the kids and BB-8

As for the film itself, I quite like it. Yes, there's a lot of similarities with NH, but meh - I don't care. It's a Star Wars film and I always turn my brain off before watching anyway. Certainly beats some of the other crap that's being churned out these days!
