I use 1280x1024 on my desktop, and 800x600 on laptops.

Some things I found were:

My DS is running on a nice smooth 256x192. I wouldn't recommend is for desktop use though.

Hobo, you asked for a demo? I'll be releasing an alpha v.0.0.0.0.0.1 of my client within the end of next week like you've done with Omnircron if everything works out well.
Right now I'm just having a bit of a headache trying to figure out threading for Windows + XNA apps that requires a socket to be listening for data all the time. Apparently using events is a very bad idea for that.

HoboBen, in most cases, it's probably a better idea to ask the computer itself what resolutions it supports. In Blitz, you can do this:



Just have your program look at all of the resolutions available, and present a list to the user based on which resolutions are acceptable (you might not want to support resolutions under 800x600, for example.)

If you're not using BlitzBasic, most other graphics APIs will present some way of doing this as well.

(Oh, I run at 1280x1024 on my desktop, and 1280x800 on my notebook. They're both LCD screens, and not running at the native resolution is just ridonkolous. Afr0, most LCD screens with a native resolution of 1280x1024 pixels are actually made with 5:4 physical dimensions -- so on these screens, ONLY 1280x1024 will be displayed with the 'correct' proportions. It's really hardly ever noticeable when they're 'wrong,' though.)
