I guess this one going be interesting.

When I saw "should I learn DirectX? Topic" and Gabriel ask chwaga, What's Your ultimate goal? and I thought that would be great idea to ask people this

What's Your ultimate goal in Programming?

p.s. I think Gabreil should take great credits for what he said

Err.. Ultimate goal? I'm keeping it open... If I reached my pinnacle, I'd go insane and hate it. So, Nothing is my goal, I just want to make stuff.

My ultimate goal is to one day finish something.

I'm not really sure to be honest.. I suppose one of my goals is to finish and sell something. But in all reality, I'm not even sure that this is what I want to be doing with the rest of my life as a carreer. Decisions, decisions...

Firstly I'd say fun, but also because I can actually write things that I find useful and that help me (and by extension, stuff that could also help/entertain other people)

I guess there's also some "fame and glory" aspect of it, if I ever produce a game that becomes really popular.

I have many goals, but not really at ultimate one... If I had one, I guess it would probably be to end up producing, on being on the production team for, something really big. Or fun. Or interesting.

No goal here. It's just something I enjoy that I can play around with and occasionally make use of. Like others I suppose I should be aiming to finish something properly...

Ultimately, what convinced me to pay for Blitz was the game I started years ago with my mate at college and the fact that I'd written a mediocre JavaScript version of it and returning to the original basic language would enable me to do a better job and build on it (expanding to 3D for instance). It turns out that the original language was Amos but there's little difference after 10s of not seeing it

Ultimately, game wise, I intend to make a Forklift Fred game. Once I know enough to do it justice.

So that must be the answer then

I'm on a computer games programming course, mainly because that's something I'd like to be doing job-wise. Long term ultimate goal would probably be to create something (game / series) that people talk about in the same that they do Final Fantasy, Halo etc (just without the blind loyality, I'd prefer it to be because the game was actually good).

Short term ultimate goal... finish all my crappy coursework and get on to something I'm coding because I actually want to. -.-"

Ultimate goal...
I don't think I ever truely had an ultimate goal..
That's like asking an author, or an artist, or a musician what their ultimate goals are..
Sure, there's the whole Fame/fortune thing, but I'm only ever doing this for the overall fun of it, really.

I, OTOH, have always had an ultimate goal. Doubtful I'll ever realize it, but it lingers there.

What is it?
In Bill Budge's words, "Construction Set Construction Set."

I think my ultimate goal would be to finish 1 game that I have thought of that lots of people would love and play and enjoy. To me its the thought of having 10000's of people having fun playing my game. Its the thought of someone else enjoying what I have made. An artist point of view I guess you could say. As I have always been an artist at heart. Just never really been creative enough until lately. Dont know where it came from but its here now. And I'm gonna rape it while I have it
