#157 - The Wimbledon Challenge

Because it's Wimbledon time!!

The Challenge

Make a tennis game!!

And you can do Pong if you'd like....
Just.. Try to make it interesting!

The Time

Wed 25th June -> 2nd July, 2008
You have until this timer hits zero to complete your entry. For the record, that's Tue/Wed, midnight GMT.

The Rules

You're free to reuse functions here and there, if it helps speed up your dev-time. Old art and audio, are pretty much expected, since we don't all have time to create fully working masterpieces within the space of a week!

Other than that, the main coding for each week's task should be pretty much created within the time allocated.

If you use other people's art/sound/functions, give credit where credit's due.
To enter, post your game below. If you can't find anywhere decent to host it, send it to Jayenkai@Gmail.com

Additional rules are available here.

Last Week

Last week, nothing happened..

Eugh... You need a special pass to get into my squash club when Wimbledon is on, which means no squash for a fortnight >_>

I hate Wimbledon [tennis].

Ball

and racquet

Im thinking about retracting my last statement about not going in all 3 directions. I think I can do it. Hope I can get the dynamics of the gravity to work out right in 6 days....

Does my net need to be shorter?

Do you mean in length or height? The length is OK but it looks too high - assuming the other dimensions and markings are correct. The lines down the side should be the equivalent of 4'6" apart and the net should be 3'6" at the posts (no less than 3' at the centre) Your net looks higher than the gap between the lines when it should be the other way around.

Here's a nice diagram of all dimensions https://www.sportsknowhow.com/pops/tennis-court.html

I've doubled the court size since then as it felt small and did a couple of changes. I thought that my AI was hitting the ball. Turns out its just bouncing against the wall. Cant seem to get the timing right. At any rate it looks good enough..lol. I cant seem to keep it going tho. My timing in hitting the ball sucks. Really bad. And I thought it would be easy. It would be easier if I could judge the distance better. Maybe I should move the camera back and higher and point it more down? It seems difficult to judge the distance from right behind the racquet....

Ok here is my entry. My brain is hurtin too bad to figure out what I am doing wrong but its like 90% finished. Its a really good go at it. You have to admit I am getting better at this. Oh thanks to jay for a bit of help on the physics, altho I never used what he suggested but it pointed me in the right direction.

|edit| So back to my astro attack game, main reason why I submitted early! Want to finish that game this week! |edit|
