Fifty Seven Hundred months (or thereabouts) after the US launch, Smash Bros Brawl finally turned up in the UK..

And I've spent a heck of a long time playing it, today!

And I've still to complete the adventure mode once.. Bah, humbug.. I'm rubbish at games!

But, man, this game's great

I just got it like almost 3 months ago for my oldest son for his birthday. I have YET to play it my self. I kicked ass on the first one on the N64. I could PWN with pichachu (sp?). I use to aggrevate my brother in law when me, him and his wife/my sister would play. Irritate him to hell when I would woop up on him with picachu! (sp? again) Cant wait to try it. Probably will after I get my asteroids and tennis games completed. I would love to complete 1 project some time. LOL. I havent even done that other than my 2 screen savers.

I hope you didn't use that cheap lighting strike that would come down from the sky! i hated that move. haha

I usually used kirby, but i really like playing solid snake and meta knight in the new one.

yeah...I loved that lighting strike. I could time it just perfect like 99% of the time. Amongst other things.

I've never owned a Super Smash Brothers game, yet I have N64, Gamecube, and the Wii. I don't know why - I love the game. I just can't bring myself around to buying it.

10 hours in.. Or so the game just told me!
Wow.. How time goes fast!

So far I've clocked in about 5 hours of that in the big Subspace adventure mode.
Around about 45% complete, and have opened up a fair few chrs.. But still no Sonic (*wah!*)

I've built a silly stage, I've earned 50+ trophies, I've a whole bunch of stickers, a pile of music tracks.. And.. That's roughly, about 1/8th of the game so far!

Woot!

.. Got no coding done, though

4 player is seriously fun - and loud.

A great, great game to keep both a single player anda group of players occupied for many an hour.

Best Wii game I have played for a while.

Early impressions are not great.

It doesn't feel as immediate as the GC version - like there's a delay between pressing a button and it actually registering (jump is most noticable). Running also seems slower.

Some of the sfx and music sounds really poor in comparision to the GC version. The lack of a strong theme tune is a real shame and the menus aren't as clear as they could/should have been.

It's nice, but so far, I still prefer the GC version. Although give me more time with it and my feelings may change. I so wanted to beknocked out by Brawl, but I'm not.

There isnt any Smash bros game that is better than the N64 original. Its the one that started it all. And like any series, nothing beats the original.

I've not noticed a delay, to be honest. I am, however, sticking to Wiimote control! Seems to do the job, and you can't use the DPad on the Classic Controller, thus making it practically unusable after having now gotten used to the nice preciseness of the Wiimote's Dpad!
I might try the Cube controllers tomorrow!

But yes, the running does appear to be slower. I'm hoping that it's an overall slowdown so that Sonic appears "The fastest" whilst not being insanely uncontrolable! Or.. maybe that's just the way it is. Dunno.

Really?!
I'm loving the music so far.. Especially in the Subspace Emissary, they really have pulled out all the stops on the single player this time around.
And that theme tune's wonderful! I've been whistling the thing all day!

IMO, It's good.
Whether it beats the Cube one will be decided in about 6 months time. If I'm still playing it, then it wins

Every one keeps brining up the cube version. Did no one play the N64 one? Come on....Yeah I am a N64 fanboy too. Most of my favorite games where on it.

Yes, N64 version was the best. You can play it on the Wii via the homebrew channel

Didn't mean to get your hopes up, the channel is not an official release. You need to run the Twilight hack with WAD installer to play it. I don't want to go into it any further because I'm not sure of the rules of this forum about such things.

The Homebrew channel is there for Homebrew, but dodgy folks do dodgy things, and this is why Nintendo always end up putting a stop to these things.
If it were just for Homebrew, through and through, I'm sure they wouldn't have even bothered to patch the Twilight hole in the first place, but as soon as folk started to take away from the Virtual Console, that's 100% lost sales.

Plus, you kinda lose out, yourself, in the end.

The problem with roms, and emulators, and such, is that you end up in that "OMG! ALL TEH ROMS!!" mindset, and inevitably miss out on actually playing through a game once in a while!

If you pay, you force yourself to play, even if it does end up being pants..
..
Except Harvest Moon for the Snes..
I bought that on VC.
I can't figure it out..
I refuse to bother trying any more!

I can't stand the N64 original - way too slow for my liking - PAL (NTSC is 17% faster).

I use the GC pad for Brawl, it's OK.

As for SFX - most are ok/same, but there are a couple of items/fanfares that sound really flat in tone. I didn't say that the music was crap, just that the theme tune is not as memorable as the GC version IMHO.
