Socoder -> Question of the Day -> QOTD : Where else?

As I sit, roaming through my usual selection of websites, I find myself getting slightly bored by the lack of new-news every 2 minutes..

So, what else can I read?

QOTD : What's your list of regular sites that you head to whenever you've a spare 2 seconds of dullness in the day.

My list..

Gaming News
Kotaku.com
NintendoWiiFanboy, DSFanboy, X360Fanboy
VE3D.ign.com <-- I usually avoid IGN, but I've been a fan of Voodoo Extreme since well before they were bought by nasty evil IGN.

Telly News
DigitalSpy.co.uk
AintItCool.com
GateWorld.net

TechStuff
HardOCP.com
Engadget.com

FunFunFun
Engrish.com
UKResistance.co.uk
b3ta.com

That's about it...the internet seems to get smaller and smaller the longer you've spent time on it.

Some places I regularly go to which haven't been mentioned:

Softpedia
BBC News
Bloomberg
Linux Haters Blog (until it shut down)
Channel 9

Although for Softpedia I'm trying to find somewhere else for technical news. I find the people there don't really know much about many of the articles they report on and they often come out with really silly opinions. If anyone can suggest an alternative, especially one slightlyt more technical and programming related, I'd much appreciate it.

Oh if you have any programming questions that none of us here would be able to answer, there's Stack Overflow which opened recently.

So, to neaten things up a little, they came up with an award scheme.. Badges..

(To be fair, theirs would probably work out, since they seem to have thought ahead, unlike my unplanned eventually useless ones!)

To be honest I really dislike their reputation and badge system (unlike reddit's meaningless karma system, the reputation actually gives you abilities such as being able to edit and lock other people's posts)

I feel it devalues their system - instead of people asking and answering questions for mutual gains they are doing it for points and power.

However, they must have got something right because you can get great responses in under a minute.

I think the badges might be the reason you get responses so fast. If I got a dollar every time I made a post on SoCoder I know I'd be a lot more active

Somewhere I used to read often, and plan to get back into, is GamaSutra. Namely the feature articles on game design. I often found them well written and very interesting.
