And there we go.. OSX Lion Installed, XCode reinstalled, XCode beta additionally installed (ffs), BlitzMax reinstalled, ScreenFlow reinstalled.. Time taken 26 hours. End result, exactly the same as it was yesterday, but all running a little bit slower. Thanks, Apple. *sigh*

I'm guessing you ran in to some problems if it took 26 hours.

Nothing major, more a case of trying to get things done, and each and every thing I tried needing just one more little fixup before it went properly.

The original install first required a huge backup (just incase) so that took a while, then the install needed a download, which went a wee bit slower than it normally would.. ... this has nothing to do with the multi-season download of House that's been going for the past week.. honest..
Once downloaded, installed that, then had to rush to work. grr...

insert gap here.

Back, tried Blitz, that didn't work.
Spent about half an hour reading various unreadable techy stuff (getting too old!) before clocking on that XCode needed installing.
well, duh!

So, XCode took about an hour to download (house again), got that installed, got Blitz half-working (still needs further testing) and at that point, I plugged in the iPod to test my game.
....
Oh, fuck.. The XCode it installed isn't the new beta one..
*sigh*

Off we go again with the downloads.. at which point I said sod it, left it downloading, and went to bed.

Morning, up, install (again), test, happy.

So, no, it didn't REALLY take 26 hours.. It just pretty much filled up an entire day, during which I didn't get anything coded, whatsoever.
..
And now my iPod's battery is back to being a bag of shit again, because the new beta has screwed that up, too.

Note to self (and you should be aware that you've already sent yourself this note a half-a-dozen times) : Stop installing the fucking iOS betas, you moron!

A few weeks ago I thought I'd pop onto the mac to do some iPhone coding... Then I realised I needed the new XCode/Libraries, which was 85 fucking petabytes of slow downloading (my ethernet cable was ~1m short of the mac).

I eventually gave up.

Gotta love Apple for finally giving the indies a chance to do this sort of thing, but it really does take the piss trying to get it all working!

Apple hate developers. They do everything in their power to make life as difficult for them as possible, what with XCode, Certification, iTunes Connect etc.

They could (and SHOULD) have made it as easy as possible. It's kind of a black art getting anything onto one of their devices.

I really fecking hate Apple.

I stick to java on windows and linux because they make it so esay and because android is ininatly easier to code for.

I also like XNA because they made that easy too. Microsoft loves us all
