Socoder -> Off Topic -> Dealing with Diagnosis

I had an appointment with a psychiatrist two days ago, I’ve managed to get some of my mental problems sort of diagnosed, he is pretty damn sure that I have Tourette’s Syndrome and ADHD, but then again I sort of knew that anyway; it just means I have a label now.

Got to go back to see him again next month, not sure how many times I have to go back but at least I may now be able to seek some kind of help to manage the sudden mood swings and maybe smooth-down the ticks a bit.

I was originally told by a councellor in the mental health team that it was Bi-Polar Disorder, they left me on that note for years after that without formally confirming it or sorting out the right meds, I then found out a couple of years back that ADHD is often misdiagnosed as Bi-Polar Disorder. The psychiatrist is not very happy about the councellor suggesting Bi-Polar Disorder, knowing that she was not qualified to do that and therefore should have sent me for qualified diagnosis. Last time I saw the councellor a few years back; she told me to be expecting appointments from a CBT and a Neurologist, I never received any appointments and when I went back for a pre-arranged follow-on appointment with her, I was told that she was off sick and that she will be contacting me when she returns, that was the last I heard from that councellor.

Tourette's syndrome and ADHD? How does that affect you?

You would need to be an outsider, looking in on my environment to see the effects. Close friends just accept me the way I am where others see my ticks and regard me as a spazz or something. The ADHD part can cause me to fly off the handle and/ or become very restless, living with my dad doesn't help either coz he's a bit of a control freak. I came close to laying the cunt out on Monday coz he had the arse with me when I was stuck-out in the snow for hours and he then called me a fucking liar and pulled a fucking kitchen knife on me. He knows I have problems but he thinks only of himself all the time, that's why I am now seeking to move out of "his" place.

I know that I put on a persona on here, acting like I'm all happy go lucky and stuff, but I really have issues which is why I randomly vent my spleen from time to time on here as well as on facebook.
