What's the most ambitious storyline you've ever created for a game? And did the game actually end up using it, or did you end up discarding it part way through development?

I've had a couple extensive storylines, just never got to the point in the game engine where i could start implementing them. The rest of my games have been arcade ish, and then i've stopped programming games for a while. So the most ambitious implemented story line was in Bomb Space where you dodge bombs in a mine field and there was a small back story on the website, not in the actual game.

In the RPG Maker I'd thought up large stories a few times. But with proper programming the best was a large extensive reason for you doing whatever is in the game.

Sonic Skateboarder....

nephew of Tony Hawk. Let's see, he is about 15 years old.
true. He has long dark blondish hair. He is slim but wiry.
He wears a red cap...not centered but more to his right side. Sometimes he wears sneakers...other times brown shoes.
He wears a light brown jacket.

He can ride the sonic waves of the air...with his special skateboard. He can also tap into the graviton waves and particles of the surrounding area. whoa!!

or perhaps this...

for a adventure or action role playing game.

a parody of the A-Team. But in the wolrd of adventure and role playing they are the B-Team:

Hannibal--> Hannibal Smith. Leader of this ragtag team. Roman soldier and expert in swords and spears.

B.A. Barbarian--> Barbarian and very stong and good with sword and expert in the axe.

Elf--> half elf, proficient in certain magics...especially shapeshifting. also a good thief as well.

Mad Wolf--> human by day, werewolf by night. Yet, he can control his changing back and forth.

The B Team!! Aventurers and bootleggers for hire.

The most ambitious storyline that I've come up with for a game isn't the same as the most ambitious I've actually begun to implement - in fact, they're nearly exact opposites. The most complex that I've actually begun to put into a game is the quest of a boy (Tally) to bash some Djinni's heads in with Sloedjinn, the grumpy talking sword, in a misguided attempt to save his master Srudthe from the coma he's fallen into. Turns out the Djinni weren't implicated at all; Srudthe was turned into a chiccat (chicken + cat chimera) by a florist. It goes without saying, of course, that it's a puzzle game. Yeah. I'm still going with it, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to drop it for obvious reasons.

(Note: encoding inexplicably mucked up... the 'dth' in Srudthe's name is an "eth" (©Ã) and is pronounced as such. The 'e' isn't silent.)

That sounds really odd I once made a wrote down a storyline for a game on a few pages, then I realized that it would be way to complicated to code, so I never actually started making the game. When I become a millionaire, I'll hire a team to make that game

I made a storyline that I won
the California Lottery!! I became
a millionaire up to 7 times over.

Now, I have hired Phoenix to
form a team to create clones of games
and also shovelware and kiddie edutainments too.

I'll even open my own pizza place.
And with arcade games and dancing power ranger
shows too. There will even be robotic
simulations of Punch, Judy, and Bush too.
The show will premiere as Punch Judy and Bush.
My Arcade Pizza place will be called Rat Race.

I'm hoping that my game I'm working on now will end up having a nice storyline...

I guess I should enlighten you all seeing how I have spoke no details about the storyline for my game I'm making.

The Running Man, your superb postal service delivery man, has to go through many lands every day to deliver mail, but one day, [insert princess name here] disappeared! The Running Man, armed with nothing but his guts and skill, set out to seek the princess, but he cannot abandon his duty for he must continue delivering mail while he searches.

hey BlitzMan of 3d,

is this Running Man a combination of
Arnold Schwarzenegger and Kevin Costner?

Arnold in the movie the Running Man
and Kevin Costner in the Postman.

Maybe he got it from watching one or both
of these movies.

Yet, its cool. Stay and stick with your game.
I can envision as one of the characters in your
game as a muscle bound Governor of California
forced to deliver mail as well since
the big emigration exodus from California.
And also the big economic and governmental
collapse in California.

So by day he is Governor of the Sunshine
State of California. Yet, certain of hours
of the day and a few at night he dons his Postal
suit and delivers the mail.
His wife Maria who is his Princess is by his
side cause they both deliver the mail.

magicman,

after the big one hits....
and also an intro screen or scene or perhaps
small movie in your game.
hmmmm...how would you open up this end of the world and survival game? Also how you develop this game?
Perhaps a combination adventure, small RPG and simulation
as well.

hmmmmm....
maybe you get to a Fallout shelter or you have a Fallout shelter and there is only enough room and provisions
for a certain number of people in starting out the game.
Lets say you can grab and allow only a few others(maybe 2 to 4) in and leave the rest out to hopefully fend for themselves.
Let at the start of the game and perhaps in your city an/or neighborhood you can only let a certain number of people in.
These will be your companions...maybe or maybe not friends for the start of your party for this Survival game.
Pick n choose which ones you like.
At the start of the game or Survival simulation:

in those few precious seconds of deciding and closing
shut the vault doors...you quickly access the people
and their profiles and situations of what you known
about them and living with them and/or coming into contact with them.
Do you take in sweet, lovable kind granny like woman
down the streets or the business associate who happens
was picking you up for a certain meeting?
What about that crazy conspiralist down the street?
And would you close your doors on that Girl Scout who
is sometimes bratty and obsessed with selling cookies!??
and what about Mike the Mechanic? The one who works
on your car and gives you lots of discounts at the auto
shop!?? He has bailed you out lots of times.

Very hard and tough choices to make!? True

Blitz3dman,

I don't know.....

those are only a few of them. There are some more
to choose from and decide upon.

if it were to choose and decide I'd
definitely let the Girl Scout in.
Yeah, you're right I'd take Mike in.
If I could only take two.

Yet, if there were more people and my party people
in the Fallout shelter expanded a little more in the
selection of lets say up to 4 or 5 other people.
Then, I would include Granny too.

Hard and tough decisions though.
Come on magicman...make this apocalyptic survival
Adventure simulation game. This would be so cool
and make it harsh and dark too.

or steve....

Forget Zanida for a little bit. Dump her in the Atcor
washers. Besides, she hasn't had a bath in ages.
Dude, this is your game story and idea.

Go for it, ancell.
