What stuttering thing?

Whilst playing HL2 on my old system (with a GeForce in it) it used to do occasional "Crazy Stuttering", where it would sit and the sound would loop for a second or so, then carry on as if nothing happened.
Just considering the fact that it might be this same issue, with the Gfx taking too long to load.

Windows ME, with... *looks at side of computer...*
-800MHz Processor
-64MB RAM - wait, we added another 256MB... so 256+64 is... err... dunno
-20GB Hard Drive, with about 1 byte of space left
-Some other stuff that doesn't have any bearing on this test

Wow shroom_monk your PC is even older than mine. I got a 20 gig HD too, but I always try and keep at least 2.5 gigs free. I expect you would find you computer runs faster if you free up some room. To do a proper defrag its suggested that you have at least 15% of you HD free. If you havent got around to defragging yet then do one it will speed your disk up loads

This might be interesting - I ran it on my trusty old tablet pc to see just how bad those scores could go.

Intel Celeron (Low Voltage), <500 MHz (throttled/powersave), 256MB RAM, 20GB 5400rpm HDD, Windows 2000 Pro.
And the graphics? ATI Rage Mobility PCI, 4MB

And the result?

lmao those who took over ten seconds.

My laptop
CPU: 1.47G Athlon
RAM: 512MB 266mhz DDR
GPU: 16MB ATI mobility U1.

Surely the image loading will be more effected by speed of your hard drive than your graphics card?

My spec is:-
Athlon XP2 64bit dual core 4200+
2gig memory
250gig SATA hard drive
GeForce 6600GT graphics card

Not really..
Try changing the LoadAnimImage to .. 800,600,0,1) and watch the speed ramp up.
It's the "cutting it up into tiny 8x8 squares" that seems to do it.

HoboBen
1.6 GHz Intel Centrino Duo
512MB DDR2 RAM, including RAM-based graphics memory
However, it's been thoroughly tweaked, decluttered and optimised by myself and has a lot more free RAM than most machines with those specs.

Almost as fast as Mole's 1GB box.
