Ooh ooh ooh.

The last time we did this was with the old ME desktop. My new one on Vista:

Please ignore the lump of icons in the bottom left. Most of that is stuff that came with the computer, or was installed by other members of my family, and I haven't been bothered to move, plus stuff I don't use. IE: Adventure Rock *shudder* is not mine!

Here is mine:

Don't it kick ass! What's really awesome though is the Start menu and my documents bar at the top, both hidden as default:

I have all my apps on quick launch and I can actually read the titles of the windows when I have more then 5 open!

Topright = The most useful Windows-Sidebar-Gadget there is...
Winkey+Space pops it to the front, then access your useful stuff..

|edit| Being able to have a topbar/sidebar like Diablo (with all the directories ready and waiting) would be nice, but.. WTF!??! Vista doesn't seem to do that!! |edit|

Yes you can! I have one on my Vista machine at home. The toolbar is just a view of an existing folder. You just drag that folder right to the top of the screen.

At work I also have lots of shortcuts in there so I can go straight to folders/files that I need to use often. Especially useful if they are on a different network.

Aaah, how right you are..

See, I tried the good old "right click toolbar, add, then move" but no matter what I tried it wouldn't bloody well move out of the bottom taskbar.

Trust MS to take an idea they made that worked well, and then inexplicably change the entire way that it works, removing any clues as to how to now achieve something that worked so amazingly well before..
FFS.

Vista!! Bah, Humbug..

Was the taskbar locked? It sounds that was the problem.

Nope, toolbar thingums just refuse to drag from one to another, or even out into a little window like they used to.

Three ways to do images, that's nice and straight forward.

If I could check for a file on an external server quickly enough, then thumb could work.. Unfortunately, that's insane..

Now you're just blaming your own faults on MS -- it took me five seconds to change the bar to be on the right side, on Vista.

@Phoenix - I really like that background. Is there a story behind the flying ship?

Not as nice as everybody elses. But I have been busy too. Maybe when I get around to it I will get a transformers background. Or a really good screen shot of my tradewars 3d game. And I am gonna have to copy DD as well. I like that.

|edit| Ok....I did it....I feel better! |edit|

@Hoboben: Well, not really! Just some random picture I found on DeviantArt. I've been trying to find the author, but with no success. I can send it to you if you want it.

3Mb rar with avi inside.. That's what I'm on about!! (And yes, DD.. your "folder drag" does indeed work, but that's not the point.. Something that USED to work no longer does.)

..

But yeah, that flying boat's quite nice..

In surveys made by the team who build and develop the Taskbar it's found that the lowest number of users have it on the right side of the screen.

Well d'oh. I actually used to have it on the right side, but that's when I was still too young to have my own PC.
Bottom line; Can't remember the last time I had it on the right side, and I can't see the use of it either. What's the fuzz about?

Top half looks like something you'd get in a Lucasart adventure.. Lovely

.. Bottom half's a bit of a mess, mind!

Still, what a wonderful shot!
