#122 - The Halloween Challenge 3

30th October 2007

Just like to say that I have a game but I'm just in the final test stages before publishing it. I don't want to give you a game than falls apart! :D
Just a few tweeking minutes should do it.
Sorry about that.

Family fortunes - type of bean?

28th October 2007

Here you go
LINK (flv file straight from my cache, well I re-named it) 9.84MB
For some reason the clip's aspect ratio is all out of wack but if you can force it to 4:3 it's fine.
It's a classic answer, I'm sure I've heard it before but the whole treatme*snip*

Alternative IDE? Protean etc

26th October 2007

Yeah, I'm quite liking IDEal. Not really using the bits at the side just yet but everything else is working out nicely for me. Liking the collapsible blocks and the ability to comment/un-comment blocks of code, oh and the level of control over the colours *snip*

#122 - The Halloween Challenge 3

25th October 2007

Well I'm happy to say that mine will be a-Maze-ing (see the pun, anticipate the game type :D )
And I'm well chuffed with the way it's started already!

Mouse coords in a larger than screen world?

20th October 2007

If you take out the scroll variables from this part of the move_tail() function
nodes_x(0) = nodes_x(0)+(( (MouseX()+ -scroll_x)*10)-nodes_x(0))/16
nodes_y(0) = nodes_y(0)+(( (MouseY()+ -scroll_y)*10)-nodes_y(0))/16
The string sticks to *snip*

Mouse coords in a larger than screen world?

19th October 2007

Sorry Spinal I seem to have tied myself in knots.
I think I've ended up defeating the object!
It should be a simple displacement but I think you might need a separate variable to offset after your calculations. Calculate your new position to chase the po*snip*

Mouse coords in a larger than screen world?

19th October 2007

OK, I see it. I take it you need it to relate to background otherwise you could just use the normal MouseX() and MouseY()
I'll have to drill right into the workings but it's got to be a maths problem so I should get there...

Forklift_Fred

Mouse coords in a larger than screen world?

19th October 2007

Er... you've lost me ever so slightly.
I don't mean to be rude but what are you trying to do?
I'm guessing it's to do with the blue dot/square? Where is it supposed to be? At the moment it's half way between the string and the mouse but I've not dug deep*snip*

#120 - The Slots Challenge

16th October 2007

Thanks. The bump kind of happened by accident but like the reel thing it's just the reels slotting into the centre position :)
I may have missed out on the workshop deadline but I'm determined to actually finish this one :D
As you can see, it's basically*snip*

#120 - The Slots Challenge

16th October 2007

OK, just to show that I've made an effort despite starting late, here's this week's work in progress. Clearly passed the deadline and unfinished but it's turned into a project that I can now run with for a while longer :)
Obviously, the graphics won't wor*snip*

If... And...And... Or... logic

16th October 2007

He he he!
I now have it working! The problem was elsewhere, hidden away in a silly little flag set that didn't need to be there (it reset the speed)
Following your encouragement Jay, I tried all variations and discovered that although I had it working wi*snip*

If... And...And... Or... logic

16th October 2007

Sorry, I forgot to say thank you for trying to help.
I've now implemented the last idea but it seems there is a problem elsewhere in my code so although it achieves the required logic, it still doesn't work! :(

Forklift_Fred

If... And...And... Or... logic

16th October 2007

Er... not sure. I don't think so.
My query looks a little like this at the moment
If speed<2 And speed>-2 Or spun=True Then...
(which obviously doesn't work because it doesn't know how I want the And and Or to relate)
I need either the spe*snip*

If... And...And... Or... logic

16th October 2007

OK, I'm sure there's a way of doing this but it's driving me crazy!
I need to check if either 2 conditions are both true or a third condition is true
So that's either condition 1 is true AND condition 2 is true, OR condition 3 is true.
I can right it as*snip*

That's genius :D
I just had a good run and made it across three times, one of which had a bonus... New Highscore : 81
I'm going to try one in 3D... Probably setting sights too high again but there's learning to be had in a challenge and that's what I'm h*snip*

Alternative IDE? Protean etc

10th October 2007

Yep it was you :D
So anyway, I installed the .Net Framework because I also needed it for another application. Protean looks to be quite a big step from the default IDE, which I expected but I'm sure it will all fall into place soon enough.

WM001 - The Pickups

You know what? I honestly thought this one ended last night!
I may still have something to enter but I'll be honest, it's not likely.

WM001 - The Pickups

7th October 2007

Like my hobo friend, I've found myself cut short, so to speak :(

Alternative IDE? Protean etc
To find out if you have .NET, you only have to check in control panel at the "Install/Uninstall programs"-dialog.
Someone mentioned the Protean IDE recently and it got me thinking. I have vague memories of it being mentioned before but was happy with the original IDE at the time and didn't want to spend anymore money.

Screen Names?

Ah, now I feel a little out of place... not even remotely computer related...
