This intro was written a couple of years ago for the scene group Surprise!Productions.

It's written in Freebasic and assembly language, and uses tinyptc so it's all software rendered.

Can't run it. The window appears but its contents are completely transparent (I can see Firefox through it).

Same here...

I'm on Vista. That's probably the issue.. I'll try it on the good-old Celeron in a jiffy..
Meanwhile, using the "Drag it under the screen, slowly pull it back up again" method, I did manage to get some lovely colors onto the window
