Drivers FTL

I really hate SATA-1 RAID Drivers

So, I've got this computer sitting around. P4, 1.5 GB RAM, all around still a decent system. I'm not really using it for anything, so I figured I'd set it up as a server. Install Windows Server 2003, then I could make it a domain controller as well and get to play with that kind of thing in the comfort of my own home without compromising an entire working corporation. I've even got the naming convention set up for everything. The domain controller is called Daggoth-DC, with computers in the domain called Overmind, Zasz, Kerrigan, in a domain called Hive.local (see a trend here?).

Nifty, so this sounds like a good idea. I pop in the windows server disk, but oops, doesn't recognize the hard drive (so i can't install it). Ok well, all i need is the drivers then, put them on a floppy, and then it will load them in the setup. Problem: The drivers only come as an executable. Solution: command line parameters enable me to just unpack it... Except not. It only lets me unpack the underlying drivers if its on a computer that can use the drivers, even if the parameter specifies to not install the drivers. This. makes. no. sense.

So now i have to unpack it on the computer that I've already formatted. Great, so I'm going to have to use the lame recovery disk to reinstall windows XP just so that i can get the drivers to uninstall it and install server. Oh, thank the lord though, the disk has a corrupted file and can't complete the install! Frack it to hell, I'm giving up for a temporary basis, but I'll likely be at it again.

so Instinct,

maybe this is how the Borg got started?
um...in there pre-Borg days.

don't worry! with help and patience....the Great Daggoth will come to your aid and in his time to help you achieve assimilation in the Hive local collective of the great Overmind.

hope you get it up and running,
cheers,

This is the Zerg, not the Borg . Although they share similar goals it is based off the Zerg from Starcraft. Daggoth, Zasz, Kerrigan were all cerebrates, and the Overmind was kinda the head. Technically Kerrigan wasn't a cerebrate and was actually a terran ghost assimilated into the hive, but reguardless she was able to control Zerg units.

I even named my thumb drive "Overlord", since it's a lesser Zerg species, but still one of influence.
