For years I've used Orange, Pay as You Go. I was moderately happy. I don't use my phone much.. I top up £5 and it lasts for a good couple of months. That is until Xmas/New Year, when all my credit suddenly turns to dust, and I can easily spend £15-20 within a couple of weeks. Why? Stupid Sodding TXT MSGS Example. If I text someone, using a nice long format of typing, 'an nt T shrt txt styl', then I can easily pass the 160chr boundary. This means I'm sending 2 txts, not 1. If it costs me 10p per text, that's actually 20p it'll cost me. And if I send that to everyone, that's a lot of 20p's. RIP OFF.. So, this week I took to the net, and hunted down the cheapest I could find. If you're in a similar situation to me (Have Phone, Have no use for it/costs too much..) then you'll probably be happy to find out the thing I did. Asda! 4p per txt Bingo! And not only that.. Orange's rip off price of '£4 per Mb of Data' is obliterated by Asda's price of ... 20p. Jay's Real-world Actual Usage Price Comparison Orange : Average £5 top up : 1Mb data + 10 txts (£4+(10p*10)) Asda : Average £5 top up : 5Mb data + 100 txts ((20p*5)+(4p*100)) Can't argue with that!! And if you're one of those 'talky' people, it's 8p per minute.. (Note, this seems like an advert... it's just me being happy to be able to use my phone's functionality for a change!!) |

I use ASDA Mobile, it the cheapest PAYG that I know of in the UK.

I think it's something like 97 percent coverage too.
