System : Windows

Uhoh!!! TWO

The Vista system was bought in early 2007.
A nice shiny Dual Core system, with plenty of oomph, other that the crappy inbuilt Intel thing.. Which was happy playing Half Life 2, but not Vista!
None the less, I managed to get XP running, and the system was even happier.

Uhoh : Part One : Recap

September 21st 2008, XP Hard drive finally gave in.
It had a good run, and had lasted through a good 2 or 3 systems, but when your time's up, your time's up..
and so, off it went to the great big HD Emporium in the sky.

Bye Bye XP.. Now I had to use Vista.
Booo!

January 10th 2009, less that 2 years after I'd bought the happy shiny Vista system, it all went horribly wrong..
True, I had about 10 windows open, and was doing plenty of work, but the Celeron can cope with it, so why wouldn't the Dual Core.
..
Stall..
..

Crash..
..
..

No reboot!
Instead, it sits there, in a "nope, not doing anything, mate" half-on, half-off dead state.
I've switched the memory, removed the gfx card, and even tried swapping the power supply. All to no avail.
So, my guess is that Mr Dual Core is no more.
Bugger..

Aw well, time for a new one!

Is it just me, or are everyone's computers breaking right now? My laptop's still rather dead, I think blanko needed to reinstall his OS a week or two ago, and lots of other people seem to be having computer trouble. Or maybe it's just me.

Yep...

Mine wasn't hardware related though, but a nasty bug. Here's hoping my shit stays working just a little longer - it's all getting quite old.
