Head Doodle Video (13:40)

Drawin' a head

In case anyone's ever for some reason wanted to watch me paint, with the miracle of Quicktime X, I can now grant you your voyeuristic wishes. Specifically, there is a screen recording feature that I've been using for recording when I take class notes (so I can scan through the video and find out where in the lecture I was writing what notes- allows for easily tracking down what I wrote).

Anyhow, the video is here:
www.spifftastic.net/paintingish.mov (480p - 14.5mb)
dl.getdropbox.com/u/31892/paintingish720.mov (720p - 31.7mb)

The end result looks something like this, sans most of the color:

I am incredibly impressed with this, especially how quickly you got it done.

I presume you were using a graphics tablet? If so which one?

Did you also do much preparation for this (i.e. sketch it out on paper)?

Currently using a 5x6 Graphire 4. I also have a 9x11 Intuos 2 that I sometimes use, although rarely due to limited desk space.

The only preparation was the quick sketch you see in the video.

You video makes me want to buy a graphics tablet.

I wouldn't recommend buying one larger than 5x6. You won't need the extra space for anything and it'll only end up making you pay more.

Updated to include a 720p version of the recording, since you can see the cursor a lot better in that.
