Robotics Club Competition

Less than a week left!

The challenge: Build a small, completely autonomous, solar-powered vehicle that can traverse a track with a few obstacles.

Less than a week left and so much more to do! All the mechanical work is done, program logic is mostly done, and electronics are mostly done -- with some hiccups. The transistors we're using to switch ground on and off of the IR sensors so that we can turn them on and off to lower power consumption requirements are pulsing. i.e. instead of giving a flat line at "0", it's periodically letting two volts pulse through the circuit, which is odd...

Anyway, it's causing problems with our IR sensors, and without IR sensors that read correctly, our robot won't know where it's going. So, this is obviously a problem. Hopefully I'll be able to work it out by Tuesday....

Damn, I wish I could do stuff like that.. Never been any good with electronics.

Well done! And good luck getting it all done in the next few days!

That's really awesome! Like Jay, I'm damn jealous

Sounds like you're having a really exciting time!

*Update*

IR sensors are fixed, problem was with the transistor. Switched to a different NPN transistor, and now it works fine. Although, the power draw on the robot is a bit high, so I'm going to try and do some funky things to make it work with less power. Competition in 2 days!
