Even though she was bullied, there was no need for Sara Cox to get out the dirty washing live on air. A simple email in private with a few choice words would suffice, I would expect a lot different from someone professional.

I was bullied by a lot of complete wankers at school, a very close knit bunch of wankers too. One in particular used to pat me down and check for cash in my pockets, if I didn't have anything of use to him then he would punch me square-on in the face, sometimes he would just punch me in the face on first sighting, just for the fun of it. He now owns a very successful local business, and although he's successful he's still a wanker in my eyes.

Even after all I went through, you don't see me going on about them all over Facebook, I just forget about their existence and move on. The only thing I regret is not giving a frenzied attack back at the time it was all going on, I now have a lot of anger built up because I held back, my aquired temper has got me into a lot of arrests because I can no longer control myself when backed into a corner.

Those bullies also used to punch the fuck out of me in order to try to make me cry, I wouldn't cry and that then drove them to lay the boot in too, and then some more because I wouldn't fuckin' well cry.

There was someone else in my school that was a complete nutter, nobody ever won a fight against him and he was considered the hardest kid in school, and even though he was the hardest kid in school, he never picked on me once. Okay, he used to tease me a bit, but he was never nasty to me, I used to have quite a laugh with him in lessons. Funny how things work innit!

You would have been the kind of kid I would have been hanging out with Jay. I was also targeted for my computer-geek like traits; and was also targeted because I hated sports, especially football, I fucking detest football.

I was never bullied or a bully.

My school report from one year stated - "He never starts fights, but he always ends them." Diplomacy, tact and the odd fist worked wonders.

TBH I think Sara was right to name and shame a bully live on air. Good on her. Perhaps if she had had the same pluck when she was younger she wouldn't have been bullied, but who knows.

Thing is though Ian, people change over time, I know of some kids that were right bastards and grew up to be a completely different person later on in life, in my case I was quite strong for my size but had no fight attitude whatsoever. If I had the attiude that I have now back then it could have been a boot on the other foot scenario, but then again I'm quite well natured so I guess I could have been one of those mentor types if I posessed that attitude at the time.

As for the bullies, in the rare occasions that I did fight back I always got reported to the school office. Upon telling the head teacher that I was provoked I would be told to stop tittle tattling, and oh, here's a detention slip for bullshitting. I couldn't win either way, and I swear fuckin' blind those little cunts must have been related to the teachers or something.

Bottom line is, school is a load of bollocks and the hierarchy shit needs to stop; the only fond memories I have are the teachers that I actually did get on with and the geeks and oddballs that I hung about with. For me truancy was the key to learning a lot more than I did by being punched and kicked at school most of the time. I learned coding by bunking-off and would never learned anything about that in school I.T because none of the teachers were equipped for that kind of stuff. Even the main I.T teacher was a useless twat, big, fat, bearded, looked the part but weren't the part. All he did was slam a book on everyones desk and say "the instructions are thare, I don't want anyone disturbing me, do I make myself clear?". I once dared to approach him, he told be to sit down and read the book, when I asked what is he paid for he simply told me to fuck off and get the fuck out of his classroom, and that became another bunk-off lesson on my list.

Maybe school up that end of the map is different, I dunno!, but the school I went to was about as much use as a solar-powered torch.

Yeah, people can change. Not all of them though. But, at least she got to get it out in the open that bullying is unacceptable and that even years later you can be judged on your actions.

Should we accept the actions of the guards at Auschwitz etc. just because time has passed and they may be different people? I know that's extreme, but every one of them - the bullies, the guards etc. had alternative choices but did not take them. That and they should not be let off, ignored or forgotten.
