Does B3D support .max models?

nope

MD2*, BSP*, X, 3DS or B3D

* MD2 & BSP have different loading systems than X, 3DS and B3D

Well, err, yeah, it does?
B3D has commands for displaying primitives on screen, so per definition, yes, it does.
You might wanna choose a format that's a little less proprietary, though. I tried searching on Google for the *.max format specification, but didn't come up with anything.
If you're desperate, you can always make a MaxScript for exporting to *.b3d, which is an 'open' format, in terms of specification.
