Just been told by Captain Wicker over at BB.com that it crashes unless put into Windows 95 compatability mode. I don't understand why considering it was made in Blitz3D.

I have now shoved it into an installer package to make life a bit easier.

Works fine for me. Might be because you've specified a fullscreen mode. There's a reason I've stuck to Windowed mode all these years, and it's because it's MUCH more compatible!
I suggest you start in Windowed, then add a "Hit button for Fullscreen" option, in the main menu.

Damn evil game, btw!

Note to self, I can set the game to the current desktop resolution by simply using Graphics 0, 0

What a plonker I am.

Hopefully this will work properly.

Man, that's tougher than I remember!

Nice job

BTW the first (zip) version worked for me on Windows7 64Bit laptop. It took a few seconds (of black screen) to start up though.

The reason it takes a few seconds of black screen at startup is because it loads assets and resizes sprites to comply with the current resolution, I can get it to look the same across all resolutions that way.

|edit| That is also why I use bitmap text rather that normal text, normal text just won't scale the same accross resolutions. |edit|

Perhaps a "PLEASE WAIT. LOADING" type message before loading assets may prevent users thinking the game had crashed.

Or a tape loading screen!!

Fuckty bollock bags, Windows 8 piece of donkey jank.

Just tried running it on my mum's laptop after having to piss about with the compatiblity wizard. The bloomin' thing says it can't set graphics mode.

Windowed mode!!!!

If I use window mode I get tearing and distortion when sprite move along the top. That problem came after I added music.

Hmm.. Quirky!

It gets worse. Jason Brooks is experiencing serious hyperspeed under Parallels Desktop on Mac, we have been trying to get it working but it's being a pain in the arse and worse still Jason can't do much from his end coz he don't have Blitz3D.

VM's can be quite quirky, I usually have trouble with Blitz3D/Plus stuff on VMWare, though, monkey, GLBasic and BlitzMax stuff work absolutely fine!

I wouldnt be all that concerned if it was me about getting it running on a VM, you really are running the app on layers and layers of software, so there is massive potential for something to go cack arsed... Try to fix it, yeah, but, if it simply wont graft, well, theres nowt you can do... Like I mentioned on Facebook, it runs really slow on my VM, but, works perfectly on an actual Windows box... Which really, is what it should be running on anyway.
