www.unrealengine.com/

The only downside is you need powerful computer and also learn C++ and of course they do have c#(which is bit easier)

The license is something like.. You're free to make anything up to about $3,000, after which you're expected to donate about 5% of your earnings.
Seems very free and open.

How can you compare them? Both used shaders as far I know. What is interesting for me is what Unity 5 have that unreal engine dont. It would be nice to know pro and con for either them.

I'm slightly tempted to try one/both of them..
To be honest, I think I need a coding challenge..

I seem think Unity 5 would be easy to do than Unreal engine 4 but like you say...it is worth to try out, see which one you like and also feel comfortable with coding that you get result in short space of time!

I would have a play around with this but I'm helping out with another developer's game engine at the moment, having to give myself a crash course in Darkbasic Pro as I go along. LOL

It was well over a decade ago that I last used DarkBasic.
The fact that it had a Fullscreen editor, meant that every time I used it, all my sodding desktop icons would end up being rearranged in a shitty layout.

There's no doubt in my mind that this is no longer the case.
.. But it's the one thing that sticks out in my mind.

Bloody thing.
Grrr!!!

Fact is I'm being offered payment, although I don't have a clue how much to charge, if DarkBasic Pro is how it's gotta be then I have to feel the pain. Seriously though, it's not as bad as I thought it would be.

Matrix1 Utils makes the experience a whole lot easier.

I know what you mean about the original DarkBasic editor Jay, I'm using DB Pro which has the windows app type editor (Synergy Editor).

Unity 5 got lots of Tutorials like this

https://unity3d.com/learn/tutorials/modules

Does Unreal engine 4 have those tutorials links already like unity 5?

As most of you probably know, I love unity and also haven't played with unreal.

Soo, of course I'm gonna say try out unity, just because I'm more familiar with it and it's pretty easy to get to grips with. That and I don't have time to learn another engine until April at the earliest! Bloody web coding, sure it pays the bills but it's been so long since I got my game on now!

Web / Game Dev, occasionally finishes off coding games also!

Had anyone try unreal engine 4? I think it bit cumbersome if you know what I mean...
