Trust Dabz!

Thanks Jay, I've recently gotten the bug back about astronomy.

These shots were taken on a hand held camera without a tripod!

The camera is a Panasonic Lumix DMC TZ30 at 20x optical zoom, ISO 100, aperture at f8 and shutter speed between 1/250 and 1/320.

I'm not sure Dave... I only just found those settings the other day and been playing around with them (we've had the camera for 2 years now!!).

According to the Panasonic site, the focal length is:

Focal Length f=4.3 - 86.0mm (24 - 480mm in 35mm equiv.)

Whatever that means

Couldnt get a pic of the full moon last night due to it been cloudy

New Moon Photo:

Oh and it was only when I moved to Australia that I really could see the "face" in the moon... since it's upside down here

"That's a rubbish picture. You can only see half of it.. You need better lighting!"

LOL! I knew something was wrong when I set up the lighting rig...

I actually like these shots better than a full moon as you can really make out the details of the craters.

This was last night in Adelaide, Australia at 7pm:

Last week Jupiter was closer to the moon. This was the sky at night on the 25/05/2015:
