That's just plain wrong. I hope a load of their victims track them down and give them drop some ballast on their heads.

Thanks for that info Dave.

Ive had to unplug a couple of the case fans like... Honestly, this has been the first full night and the whirring was just too much... Been off for an hour now and the temperature has only went up to 31C from 25C which was when they were doing their Boeing 737 impression!

Got little bits done, but most of the time was updating Win7, had a little problem with windows update not actually finding any updates, took about an hour to fix... Sorted, but, in some respect, I wish I never bothered, the little sod keeps on wanting to update now... And I'm obliging as I want to see if I can get that Windows 10 upgrade, it's looking doubtful now, maybe OEM's arent eligible, this is a Dell OEM I'm on... Will have to see if it crops up over the next week or so, if not, it's available for the laptop so maybe I can keep that on Win7 and use the ISO image on here!

We'll see!

Night night all!

"Don't fall into the trap of just putting the OS onto a tiny SSD, and all your apps etc on HDD. Other than improved boot time, you'll gain virtually nothing doing it that way"

Sorry but I'm going to have to disagree with you about that, I've got a 256GB SSD as my Boot OS drive and a normal HDD.

You gain more than just boot time, when applications uses the page file its on the SSD when application need to access windows files (dlls etc) its faster.

well there's a bonus... Popped in to see our young'un from work, over a cuppa I told him I've built a PC out of parts from eBay, cost less then 300 quid, he then mentions Nathan's old PC is in the garage, he wants to chuck it but wants to take the hardrive out and put it in an enclosure so he can back stuff up... He's got the enclosure and that so I said I'd do it...

Popped the side, eyeballed the guts and there she is... A stick of 4gig DDR3 1333mhz RAM!

Thank you very much elder Denathorn!

With Daves 2 sticks that's a mammoth 16gig worth of memory there, lol... It's like the PC build that keeps on giving!

I'm over the moon me!

I'd scan and test that ram first, if its leftovers from an old PC..
.. Or am I just being "oldskool" in imagining potential flaws?
.. I'll be honest, the last time I replaced RAM it was 233mhz, and counted in megabytes!!

Update on the system-i-bob!

Got myself a nice shiney 250gig Samsung 850 Evo SSD today, reinstalling Windows on it now... Eeeeeeeeee!!!

The 500 gig spare will now reside as a back up of sorts, sorta, but, gonna have to lose the CD-ROM drive once all the drivers and that are installed... Just havent got a spare lecky cable to have all three running in there, no biggy, I hardly use the thing anyway!

Expanding Windows Files (93%)... <----- eeeeeeeeeeeee

Well, I thought "Nah... I'll just do a clean install"... Then... When it was all up and running I hit the old "choppy sound" thing which had my head spinning last time... Thought to myself "Ohhhhh fuck"... So, after much googlation... I am now going to leave a note to myself about the fix... ahem...

Michael... Whatever you do... Do not lose this bloody page AGAIN!!!!:-
